Chapter 6: A NEW MORNING The golden morning light streamed through the grand bedroom’s massive windows, casting a soft glow on the silk sheets. Debbie stirred slightly, shifting under the warmth of the blankets. Her entire body ached, a dull soreness between her legs reminding her of the night before. She wasn’t used to this. In fact, she had never experienced anything like it before. Walter had been… relentless. The billionaire had taken his time with her, exploring every inch of her body with a passion she never thought possible. And now, as she lay there, exhausted but strangely satisfied, she couldn’t help but wonder—what happens next? Her eyes fluttered open slowly, adjusting to the unfamiliar surroundings. The room was massive, decorated in elegant shades of white and gold. The bed alone could fit four people comfortably, and the air smelled of expensive cologne mixed with fresh linen. For a moment, she panicked. What have I done? She sat up slightly, wrapping the blanket around her naked body. The memories of last night flooded back—the way Walter had kissed her, the way he had touched her, the way she had willingly given herself to him. She had gone from a heartbroken, desperate woman looking for revenge s*x to spending the night with London’s most powerful billionaire. And now… she didn’t know what to do. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of water running. She turned her head toward the large bathroom door, slightly ajar, where steam was seeping out. Walter was inside, showering. Debbie swallowed hard. Should she leave before he came out? Or should she stay and pretend like she was comfortable with all of this? Before she could decide, the door swung open. Walter stepped out, a white towel wrapped loosely around his waist. Water dripped from his jet-black hair, and his muscular chest glistened under the morning light. He looked at her with those deep, piercing blue eyes, a small smirk playing on his lips. “Good morning, princess,” he said smoothly, walking towards her. Debbie felt her breath hitch in her throat. He looked so effortlessly perfect, so confident, as if nothing that happened last night had any effect on him. She, on the other hand, felt like a complete mess. “I… um… good morning,” she murmured, gripping the sheets tighter around her body. Walter chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed, his gaze never leaving her. “You look like you’re about to run. Are you regretting last night already?” His voice was teasing, but Debbie could sense the underlying curiosity in his tone. She bit her lip, unsure of how to respond. Was she regretting it? She had been so desperate to prove something to herself, to forget Mark, to feel wanted… but had she made a mistake? Walter leaned in, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Relax, Debbie. I don’t bite—well, unless you ask me to,” he added with a playful smirk. She blushed, looking away. “It’s not that. I just… I don’t know what happens now.” Walter studied her for a moment before sighing. He got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows, staring out at the city skyline. “That depends on you,” he said. “Do you want to pretend last night never happened and walk away? Or do you want something more?” Debbie’s heart pounded. “Something more?” Walter turned to face her. “I don’t do relationships, if that’s what you’re thinking. But I do offer opportunities.” She frowned. “What do you mean?” “You said you wanted a job, right?” Debbie’s eyes widened. “You’ll give me one?” Walter smirked. “I don’t give anything for free, sweetheart. But I can offer you an interview at Adams Corporation. Whether you get the job or not depends on your performance.” Debbie hesitated. Was this his way of paying her for last night? She didn’t want to feel like she had sold herself. Walter seemed to read her mind. “Don’t overthink it, Debbie. You’re a smart woman. If you want to work for me, prove that you deserve it. Simple as that.” She swallowed hard. This was her chance. “Okay,” she finally said. “I’ll take the interview.” Walter grinned. “Good. Now go take a shower and get dressed. I’ll have my driver take you home.” Debbie nodded, slowly getting out of bed, but just as she was about to leave for the bathroom, Walter grabbed her wrist. “One more thing,” he said, pulling her close. His lips brushed against her ear, sending shivers down her spine. “You still owe me something in exchange for that job.” Debbie’s breath caught. “What… what do you mean?” Walter pulled back, smirking at her flushed face. “You’ll find out soon enough.” And with that, he let her go. As Debbie stepped into the luxurious bathroom, she couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. What had she just gotten herself into? Debbie let the warm water cascade down her body, washing away the events of the previous night, yet leaving behind the lingering feeling of Walter’s touch. Every time she closed her eyes, flashes of what had happened replayed in her mind—the way he kissed her, the way he made her feel desired, the way he effortlessly dominated every moment. But now, reality was setting in. She wasn’t in some fantasy. She had slept with a billionaire—London’s most powerful man—and now, he was offering her a job at his company. But at what cost? Did he expect more nights like this in return? Did she want more nights like this? Debbie stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her body, her mind still racing. She didn’t even have any clothes to wear. Was she supposed to walk out in last night’s dress? As if on cue, there was a soft knock at the bathroom door. “Come in,” she called hesitantly. One of Walter’s maids entered, holding a neatly folded designer dress. “Mr. Adams asked me to bring this to you, ma’am.” Debbie took the dress, feeling the expensive fabric between her fingers. This wasn’t just any dress—it was luxury. “Thank you,” she said quietly, and the maid bowed slightly before leaving. As Debbie dressed, she couldn’t help but feel like a different person. The woman who had walked into that club last night, heartbroken and desperate, wasn’t the same woman who now stood before the mirror in Walter Adams’ mansion. But who was she now? And what did Walter really want from her? When she walked downstairs, Walter was already seated on the sofa, sipping a cup of coffee. He looked effortlessly perfect, dressed in a crisp white shirt with the top buttons undone, revealing a hint of his toned chest. His piercing blue eyes locked onto her as she approached. “You clean up well,” he said, smirking as he set his coffee down. Debbie rolled her eyes. “Thanks for the dress. But you didn’t have to.” Walter leaned back against the couch, looking amused. “I don’t let women who share my bed walk out looking like a mess. It would ruin my reputation.” Debbie frowned. “So I’m just another woman to you?” Walter’s smirk didn’t fade. “What did you expect, Debbie? A love confession?” Her heart sank a little, but she quickly masked it with an indifferent shrug. “No. I just wanted to know where we stand.” Walter studied her for a moment before standing up. He walked toward her, stopping just inches away. “You stand exactly where you want to be. I don’t tie women down. If you want to leave, you can walk out right now, and I won’t stop you. If you want the job, show up at the Adams Corporation at 10 AM tomorrow for your interview.” Debbie held his gaze, trying to read his emotions. But Walter Adams was impossible to decipher. “And if I take the job?” she asked. A slow, knowing smirk formed on his lips. “Then we’ll see how far you’re willing to go for success.” A shiver ran down her spine. Walter Adams was dangerous. He played by his own rules, and she had just stepped into his game. But was she ready to play?
