Jaz   I closed the door on Sloan and pressed my back against it, slumping to the floor. It was true that I needed time and space from him, but it didn’t make it any less painful leaving. I could feel his guilt through the mate bond the same way I knew he was feeling my pain. Fighting the urge to jerk the door open to yell for him to stop, I listened as his footsteps faded down the hallway.            I waited until I was certain he would be in his office to slip from the room to the Alpha quarters.
