TWENTY-NINE Jack and Mandy shared a blissful morning. In glorious July sunshine, they trudged the shingle beach, wobbling with the difficulty, enjoying hugging and supporting each other, collecting fossils for Meesh. They strolled the promenade, joined at the hip. There were a few of the early bird kids, paddling at the seas edge. They walked the harbour wall, drank in the sunshine and the smell of the sea; Jack, the smell off the fishing boats. Things, however, were not so tranquil at Kingston Nick.
