THIRTEEN Jack held the car door for Mandy. They’d walked to the car park in silence, aside for animated fits of giggling from Mandy, interspersed with utterances that had Jack baffled; sounded like fairy, seafood, France, and who gives a toss. ‘Thank you darling, come here,’ and she kissed him full on, a wave to the CCTV cameras. In the car, they buckled up, Mandy, giggling like a little girl into the steering wheel, before she drove off to St John’s, the Roman Catholic Cathedral. ‘I must say, you're taking this remarkably well, lover.’ She flicked him a glance, ‘I love you, you make me laugh, often unwittingly, but it makes me feel warm inside, and I am glad we are together.’ He relaxed back in his seat, ‘That’s a relief, thought you might think I’d blown it.’ Her giggling momentari
