The hallway outside the officers’ rooms felt too narrow, too quiet, too full of the kind of tension that made men reach for weapons without thinking. Rae didn’t slow. She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t knock. She opened Tank’s office door. Tank and Jax both turned — and Tank’s expression shifted instantly from irritation to something darker when he saw her. He opened his mouth to speak. Rae threw something at him. It hit his desk with a wet slap. Brick’s blood‑soaked bandana. Tank stared at it. Jax stared at her. Rae shut the door behind her with a soft click. Tank’s voice dropped. “What did you do?” Rae stepped forward. “I asked Brick questions.” Tank’s jaw flexed. “And?” “He answered.” Tank’s eyes narrowed. “He’s a coward. He’ll say anything when he’s scared.”
