Nickole

*3 years earlier*                “Welcome to Stark Enterprises… Miss Johnson.” Nickole Johnson walked through the front doors into the lab where she would be working. She stopped to admire the cutting edge technology in every corner of the room. She immediately walked toward her lab station, new and clean, ready for inventing. There, however, weren’t any tools for her to work with. Not even a screwdriver. Her supervisor walked by, and she waved him over. “Excuse me, sir. Where is my equipment?”              He laughed out loud. “Young lady, I think you have the wrong room. You, my dear, must be the new secretary we hired.”              “No, I’m really not.” She pulled out her new I.D. “Nickole Johnson, lab technician,” she read off the card and showed it to the man.              He looked at her in disbelief, but was convinced by her card. “Fine,” he said. “Just don’t screw anything up. I’ll send for some tools.”              He pulled a tablet out of his pocket and typed a few notes on it. “They should be here in five minutes. Don’t break anything while you wait.”              He walked out of the room, leaving Nickole to her thoughts. She wandered around the room staring longingly at the new equipment she could play with.  The other technicians had recently left for lunch, she was about to do the same when a tall man slammed the door into the room. “I need about two of you to come with me, my suit is acting up again and I need…. Where is everyone?” the man looked around the room, and spotted Nickole. “Ah. Go find me a lab technician, and a cup of coffee would be great. Thanks.”              Nickole scoffed. “Yeah right. You want coffee, get it yourself. And for your information, I am a lab technician. How can I assist you, Mr. Stark?”              Tony Stark looked Nickole up and down, glaring at her small stature. “Are you sure you’re qualified for this, ma’am?”              “Pretty sure, sir”              He smirked. “Fine then. Come with me, we have work to do.”                Thirty minutes later, Nickole was in the famous Iron Man suit, flying over New York City. She laughed. “Is this always this exhilarating?”              Tony stood inside his lab, laughing at her. “Almost, Nick. I can’t believe you fixed JARVIS that fast. I thought I would have to completely reprogram him.”              “I thought so too, Tony.”              She flew back to Stark Enterprises, and landed on the roof, the suit automatically disabling itself. She walked down the stairs, grabbing her tablet and other tools on the way down. She walked into the main lab, running into Tony, who was standing in the door. “Oops. Sorry.” She said, bending over to pick up her fallen tablet.              Tony also bent, and reached the tool before she did. Their eyes met, and he held her gaze. Nickole knew she was going to love her new job. *Present  A dull thud was felt throughout the lab, and alarms sounded all over the place. “What was that?” Nickole looked up from her work table to see Tony rushing in.              “Trouble,” Tony said. “Come on, call your friends, we may need their help.”
