CHAPTER 8

Elisa

We finish the class well at least, I am happy though my whole body is swore. At least now I have got a friend, Tess. I just hope she would not turn up to be like Ethan, I hope she wouldn’t betray me. I just want to have someone I can talk to. Being all alone is so depressing.

“So Elisa since you arrived in this beautiful town of ours, have you had a tour.” Tess asks me in an excited voice after we get out of class.

“No Tess, my few days here have just been drama after drama. You don’t know how much I wish my life to be normal again.” I say to her as she helps me down the stairs.

“The only problem is that you have a very sore leg. I would have loved to show you around. ” she confesses.

“You will definitely show me when I feel a little better. We could go now but the problem is that I feel a lot of pain.” I say to her sincerely.

“By the way Elisa who stays with you?” she asks as we go away from the class slowly.

“ I stay alone Tess.” I say to her simply. At least she acts concerned for me.

“Come stay with me for a few days so that at least I look after you.” she says excitedly.

“No Tess I don’t want to be a burden to you, I will manage.” I say to her.

“No way Elisa, you are my friend and no friend of mine will suffer under my watch.” She says rolling her eyes and hugging me slightly from the sides.

“Alright, if you say so.” I hug her back. We walk hand in hand just chatting happily. She is a nice person, she is the only person that has treated me like a human being since I came to this place.

We head to the cafeteria and we eat to our fill, making stories and laughing out loud.

“Look who we have here.” A familiar voice and one I do not even want to hear or even see the owner distracts us.

All the happiness I feel vanishes. Was he created to ruin my life? Does he want to ruin my life? I feel myself full of rage and anger.

“What do you want you son of a b***h, who do you think you are huh! What do you think you are? You think you are so special, well you are not and my life wouldn’t revolve around you.” I find myself shouting and turning around to face Alpha.

I don’t know where I got all the strength considering the hurt feeling I have on my leg.

“Who do you think you are you ugly b***h, I own this school and everyone in it. And that includes you.” He says in rage. “And who are you to talk back at me.” he adds angrily.

“Oh Pleeeeease, do you think you are the king of this place.” I say charging up to him and facing him straight into his eyes. I have to admit he has gorgeous eyes, really gorgeous.

“Don’t speak to me that way before I …” He does as if to slap me again but my friend blocks his hand before it reaches me.

“Don’t even dare to hit her again.” Tess says clenching her teeth tightly. I smile in the process, it has been a while since someone stood up for me. It feels great to stand up for myself too.

“Let’s go boys, I will make her pay I swear. She will dance to my tunes soon enough." He hisses before he leaves and his boy scouts follow him behind. They look so dumb just following him around.

“Wow Tess, that was amazing. You caught his hand midair.” I say gesturing as how she did and we burst out laughing.

“You are my friend you know, even if I just met you just briefly. I think I love you.” She teases at the last part.

“Really?” I gesture dramatically holding my chest smiling. “I think I love you too.” I say jokingly. We laugh together too. I am happy we get along so well. We finish our meal and we head to where she stays. She helps me out with her clothes because I don’t have any.

The day goes on so quickly, we chat happily the whole day about silly staff. We stay up late watching the television before going off to bed. Since there is only one bed, we sleep together. Tess falls asleep so quickly. I on the other hand is left thinking about my miserable life. Today I was able to stand up for myself, but what if tomorrow the same thing happens.

What if Alpha makes it his life mission to hurt me always? What will I do to make him leave me alone? I have been called ugly not once but when he calls me that, it hits me differently. I always feel as if my heart has been stabbed, it is a really strange feeling. Well, maybe it is because I have never been girly. I can even count the times I have looked myself in a mirror. I finally drift to sleep eventually.

“Stop it please, leave my mom alone. Dad, dad please wake up and help mom. The animal is ripping her apart.” I call my dad but he is not waking up.

He is just in a pool of blood. His chest has been ripped apart by a large dog. I have never seen such an animal before. I run up to my mother but she is gone as well.

“Wake up mum please.” The animal charges up to me and I scream so loud.

I wake up drenched in sweat. So it was all a dream. What a bad dream, I am shaking all over.

“What is it Elisa, are you okay?” Tess wakes up too startled because of my screaming. “Did you have a nightmare?” she asks concerned.

“Yes Tess.” Tears stream down my face. It was a horrible dream, I have never had such a dream before. Why now?

“Will you talk about it please?” She asks holding me closely and caressing my arm.

“No Tess, I will tell you another day Tess.” I say in a low tone. I wonder if that is how my parents suffered before they died.

“Okay Elisa. Let’s go back to sleep now. Come let me hold you as you sleep so you can feel safe.” She holds me and she falls asleep. I don’t fall asleep at all. I experience the longest night of my life. The silver lining is that, I am not alone, at least Tess is with me.
