The passage “The Potency of Vision” emphasizes the power and importance of having a clear vision in life. It defines vision as the ability to see beyond the present, imagine possibilities, and set goals inspired by divine purpose. Without vision, life lacks direction and mission. The text encourages giving life to one’s vision through action and communication, citing historical figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Obafemi Awolowo, and Gani Fawehinmi as examples of people who pursued their visions despite challenges. The main message is that vision provides purpose, drive, and momentum. To fulfill one’s mission, one must value, act on, and persist in their vision, striving for purpose over mere survival, and daring to achieve the impossible. The text draws a link between life and others by showing that a clear vision not only gives your own life meaning but can also inspire and impact other people. For life: Vision acts as a compass, guiding your purpose, giving you motivation, and helping you overcome challenges. Without it, life feels aimless. For others: When you act on your vision—like the great leaders mentioned—you influence and uplift people around you, sometimes even changing history. Your vision can become a source of hope, direction, and transformation for others. In short, vision fuels your life and empowers others. Without it, you serve neither yourself nor the people who could benefit from your dream. page 2 DON'T QUIT When things go wrong as they sometimes will When the road you're trudging seems uphill When funds are low and the debts are high When you want to smile, but you have to sigh When cares are pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
