The passage “The Potency of Vision” emphasizes the power and importance of having a clear vision in life.
It defines vision as the ability to see beyond the present, imagine possibilities, and set goals inspired by divine purpose. Without vision, life lacks direction and mission. The text encourages giving life to one’s vision through action and communication, citing historical figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Obafemi Awolowo, and Gani Fawehinmi as examples of people who pursued their visions despite challenges.
The main message is that vision provides purpose, drive, and momentum. To fulfill one’s mission, one must value, act on, and persist in their vision, striving for purpose over mere survival, and daring to achieve the impossible.
The text draws a link between life and others by showing that a clear vision not only gives your own life meaning but can also inspire and impact other people.
For life: Vision acts as a compass, guiding your purpose, giving you motivation, and helping you overcome challenges. Without it, life feels aimless.
For others: When you act on your vision—like the great leaders mentioned—you influence and uplift people around you, sometimes even changing history. Your vision can become a source of hope, direction, and transformation for others.
In short, vision fuels your life and empowers others. Without it, you serve neither yourself nor the people who could benefit from your dream.

DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will When the road you're trudging seems uphill When funds are low and the debts are high When you want to smile, but you have to sigh When cares are pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
Life is strange with its twists and turns As all of us sometime must learn
And many a failure turns about,
When we might have won had we stack it out Don't give up, though the pace seems slow You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things get worse that you must not quit!
Question
1. Is it good to quit?
2. Are you going to quit going?
Comment
it's good to be going than to quit

GOD IS GOD
Without God, living is meaningless
Without God, life is lacking purpose
Without God, day to day happening is an accident Without God, life is vanity
Without God, all things work together for evil Without God, man is potential without purpose.
What can you do without God?
Or do you doubt His Being? You think the atheists are achievers They without God in their lives
Seem to make remarkable progress?
But you fail to notice their woeful condition!
Don't be deceived dear readers!
They only live in pretence
There is a vacuum in their hearts
Yearning for help to ONE higher than they
They are given up to reprobate minds
Only they don't want to acknowledge Him as God

MONEY AND CONTENTMENT
Money! Money!! Money!!!
Who can do without you?
You make both the young and old restive
You answer to all things
Though your love is the root of all evils!
While all desire you,
There are still lots you can't achieve!
Contentment! Contentment!! Contentment!!! Only the wise seek you
For you are the rest for the restless,
You are the peace for all.
Money, truly you are too important Without you life is hostile!
Yet you are only a means
You are not an end in yourself!
Contentment you are the satisfactions, Comfort, and case for all
You are an end in yourself
An end for holding money
No doubt the wise still seek you!
You may have all the monies in the world,
If you lack contentment,
Even in the midst of all life's luxuries
What are your monies without peace?
The end shall justify the means
The means of many are questionable
Majority acquire money through Bribery
Many through rituals
Some corruptions
While many others through oppression
Of the hireling in his wages!
What are the mechanisms of your means?
God made man, man made money;
Money makes man go mad!
For life to be meaningful
Truly you need things that money can buy
But more importantly things that money cannot buy!
Money can buy a good mattress,
Not a sound sleep
It can stage a big wedding party
Not the bliss and joy in marriage Ajeep, not the peace and satisfaction
A house, not the love and respect of your wife
For that house to be a good home!
Agigantic mansion, not the comfort of living therein Accumulate all of the worldly laurels Not security of eternal life with God!
Labour less for money! For money is an employee
Invest it; make it work for you

DECEIT
Cease to live in deceit
It is a cankerworm
It is an absolute wrong.
Be real, don't follow the crowd
Although others are deeply rooted in it You rather set a pace for living!
Make amend, be committed to your life's divine purpose
For there is always a second chance
You can start all over again.
Analysis/Background
Deceit is a moral poem attempting to discourage social vices. The poet sees deceit as cheat, trick, deception, dishonesty, pretence, and misrepresentation.
He purports that any students indulging in this habit is intending to make life through short cut in order to acquire what he calls jungle success. Such success is capable of ruining students' reality, preventing true success, and keeping their conscience in guilty mood that can lead them into living suggestible, fake and inferior life.
Adeyinka David Kolawole draws the conclusion that students should be upright, set good examples for others to emulate.

GUIDELINES TO A
BETTER TOMORROW
Tomorrow is any day in your future You get there one step at a time The path to life is path of wisdom It provides the direction to destiny
Learn to forget about the grief of yesterday Be always pleased to forgive yourself, Every today is a clean slate
Whatever you write on it is your future
Any dark areas of life
Are the experiences preparing you for your destiny
Learn from them and let them not go
They are the guidelines to your tomorrow
Have a strong determination
To reach your destination
Work hard each minute
With your neighbours avoid dispute
At times of difficulty
Never show cruelty
Either to your friends or to enemies
But be patient to hear their cries
Do not speak aloud
Remain calm like a clear cloud
Keep away from angry looks Instead read a few good books
Never hurt people through words
Which are sharp like swords
Choose a person with a creative mind, As your true friend
Fight for freedom
With a little bit of wisdom,
Hide your bad temper
For it is like a hot pepper
It only creates a bad image
And irritates persons of all age
Only try to do a good deed
Let it grow like a fine seed
To shelter the children of this soil
Who really have to face a lot of turmoil,
May we follow the path of light
And move towards the right.
Analysis/Background
Guidelines to a Better tomorrow is moral poem on principle per excellence. The intention of the poet here is to give directions, pass instructions and set guides to aiding students' general outlooks on life and mentor them on a good course of action to their enviable future without losing focus.
Adeyinka David Kolawole enjoins students to see themselves as agents of change in every station of life and strive to maintain peace with their neighbours who are likely to be the next student to them in the class, the next tenant at home or anybody they meet in the course of life.
Since life without wisdom is activities without direction, the poet endears students to embrace wisdom as principal deed to guide them to do right always.
The poem has 40 lines with 10 stanzas.
In lines 22 and 36, "Remain calm like a clear cloud," and"Let it grow like a fine seed," are literary device called Simile because of the use of "like" which is an indirect comparison.
