The New Guy

The Drive-In

Everybody was at the Drive-in, over half of the senior class must have made it. This was their farewell get together after all. Tyler brought his truck and made a comfy spot in the back with blankets and pillows to watch the double feature. Off to the south of the lot there was also a sizable bonfire going on with many of the seniors hanging out there.

“ What a beautiful night!” Exclaimed Emily who was sitting on the tailgate along with Michael.

“It absolutely is the perfect weather for a bonfire and watching movies outdoor, let’s go check out the fire and see who all is here,” Katie said.

They all got up and made their way to the bonfire where they joined around 40 of their classmate, many of which you could tell had some of the spiked punch.

“Hi Katie,” a familiar voice called. Katie looked over in the direction of the voice she heard and quickly realized that it was Ethan, someone she has had a massive crush on forever, but he had no idea, they have just been friends.

“Hi! Ethan, glad you could make it!” Katie exclaimed. “I heard these movies are going to be great, I think the first one is about to start, do you plan on watching the movies tonight?”

“I don’t have my car here, I rode with Brian.

“You can come join us if you want , we have plenty of space with blankets spread on that ground and Tyler had his truck. We have a speaker so you can hear the movie with our being in the car,” Katie tried to say persuasively to get Ethan to join them.

“I would love to join you guys.” Ethan said with a sigh of relief, “Thank you for letting me join.”

“It’s our pleasure” Katie giddily replied.

The first movie was just finishing up and Mel decide to go to the concession stand and find a snack for the second movie and find the bathroom.

She found the bathrooms after looking around for a few minutes, she hurried up and took care of business. When she opened the bathroom door she was hit with a very strong smell. A strong musk smell, that she had smelled just a few hours before in her bedroom. The smell was very alluring and mysterious, she quickly looked around and didn’t see anyone that stood out, there were several people walking but but no one smelled liked that. She has also been keen on picking up on how people smell, their unique traits, but no one has ever smelled that strong to her before.

Just then she realize someone has she just turned the corner down at the end hallway heading away from her but she had a gut feeling that is who is leaving this smell behind. She quickly tried to catch up to follow him to see who it was, it couldn’t be anyone she knew of anyone who went to her school, this scent is quite attractive and she needs to figure out why. She rounded the corner and to her surprise there was no one anywhere in that area, he must be moving fast, but she can smell his scent so she can still follow him.

After fifteen minutes of what felt like going in circles looking for this person, Mel was about to give up, she decided to go and get her snacks and go back to the movie with Tyler mad forget about what just happened and the insane urge she has to find that scent, that man.

It was about 20 mins into the last movie when Mel got chills down her neck like someone was watching her. She quickly glanced around m, startling Tyler in the process.

“What’s wrong babe?” Tyler questioned.

“Nothing I though I heard something weird.” Mel gave one more glance around and didn’t see anyone so she thought at this point she is just freaking her self out and needs to chill.

After the movie was over, everybody else made their way over to the bonfire. Everyone was enjoying the music and the punch and having a great time. It was nearly midnight now and many people have already left. Mel, Tyler, and Emily were dancing around the fire, signing and dancing to the music that was loudly playing. Mel was dancing with Tyler in way that reminded her of earlier this afternoon, she was definitely still feeling the need for release after unfinished business earlier in the day, but now was not the time or place for that.

Mel decided she had to use the restroom again even after her weird experience earlier, she couldn’t hold it any longer. She scurried to go to the bathroom. She definitely realized how alone she was walking to the bathrooms, there was no one over by them now at all. She quickly opened the bathroom door to head back and the smell smacked her in the face as soon as she walked out. It was so strong and over bearing, but so irresistible at the same time.

She immediately looked up and there he was standing just a few feet away from her.
