The mansion had never felt so quiet or large. Today I realized for the first time just how big the manor really was when you’re alone. I was used to it at first, before Cassian and I became closer. Since then, I had forgotten how alone I was when I first came. I missed him. I really did, and it hurt that I was the one who brought him pain. I betrayed him. It had been three days since Cassian confronted me. It felt more like three weeks. It was pure torture. I had seen him once or twice, and I never missed the look in his eyes.
