I stirred in bed for minutes before finally waking up. The sun was already peeking through the curtains in my room. I groaned as I stretched my hand out only to meet air. I raised my head up and opened my eyes. Cassian had already disappeared. I finally sat up, yawning. Was he already awake? I hope my snoring didn’t wake him up or something. I stood up from bed and headed to my bathroom. As I showered, every time I closed my eyes, I only saw Cassian’s face. Not when he smiled at me. Not when he came home with blood. It was the look he had when he asked me to stay out of the east wing. I couldn’t seem to shake the feeling off. When I came down, the manor was bustling with its usual activity. Maids were walking up and down, cleaning and running errands. Everything looked normal.
