Chapter Eight Believer A light ache lingered behind Ella’s eyes, so she decided to leave them closed for a moment as she came to. Last she remembered, she was in her bedroom with Archai and—she paused, her brow wrinkling in thought as she tried to recall everything. He sprouted wings. The image her memory called to mind was beautiful and amazing, her emotions wild, flaming in all directions like a fire in a breeze. The very idea that such things existed excited every aspect of her being. Something within her felt like it had come alive. But all feelings were quickly tossed aside when she finally opened her eyes and realized she was no longer in her bedroom. Pale sea-green wallpaper shrouded the walls, clashing horribly with the orange, flowery quilts spread across two queen size beds.
