Laura pulled away from him and sat back down in her armchair, crossing her legs. Marco knelt near her legs.
"I know what you thought and I won't allow it. I won't lie that jealousy didn't eat away at me. I won't tolerate another man being close, but I don't believe for a minute that you would betray me, and look at me, I love you."

Marco knew he should have imagined this; his wife hadn't had much contact with men to recognize when an approach was made with interest. The workers were always walking around outside.
