Even terrified by everything that had happened, Ella ended up falling asleep out of sheer exhaustion. The clock on the nightstand showed 5:00 PM when she woke up. She wasn't sure how long she had slept. Suddenly, she heard heavy knocks on the door, and the fear came rushing back. She couldn't understand how her father could hand her over to a man like Xavier. The look and expression on his face when he dragged her out of the house where they got married in London would make even the bravest of mobsters tremble, let alone a girl raised in a convent. The hurt consumed Ella, and she knew at that moment that she would never forgive her father for it. He should have protected her, but he handed her over without hesitation in exchange for protection and million-dollar deals. The knocks resumed
