Lily's POV
The walls of the small cottage pressed in around me, thick with silence and despair. I hadn't spoken to anyone in days. My phone had buzzed endlessly at first, vibrating with Sonia's calls, with Mark's desperate apologies, with texts from classmates I barely even knew,but I shut it all off. I couldn’t bear to hear any of it.
“Lily, where are you?. I'm worried”. Sonia texted me like a gazillion times, but I couldn't answer her. I didn’t have the guts to.
My phone buzzed again and again.
"Lily, pick up. Please, just let me know you're alive," Sonia’s voice cracked through the speaker in the voicemail she sent.
I clutched the phone tighter. “I’m sorry, Sonia… I just can’t right now.”
Another message blinked, it was Mark.
“I messed up. Please. Talk to me.”
