Chapter 18: A Cheerless Reunion
Her fingers scrabbled—more than a little frantically—seeking the soft pad Tíogari had said would be there. “Don’t panic. Don’t panic,” she whispered, ignoring the sudden fluttering in her gut. Pressing the pad, her eyes widened and she gasped as a large vidscreen giving her a three hundred and sixty-degree panoramic view opened in the ceiling above her. He said she should relish this experience as few got the opportunity to view the cosmos in this way. He was right.
The few scintillating dots sparsely sprinkled among the velvet blackness informed her this wasn’t a regular trade route, and if the Kadaugan didn’t appear…she crushed that thought. But the harsh beauty and vastness of space were breathtaking. She was less than a mote in the eye of the Goddess.
