It had been two days since Alexei’s heat ended, and as she stretched in his arms, Nikolai felt a mix of relief and affection. Her body felt cool and normal again, and a smile broke across her face when she saw he was awake.
“Good morning,” she said, leaning in to kiss him. But then, surprise flickered across her eyes. “The heat is over.”
“Yes,” he confirmed, returning her smile. “Are you feeling okay?”
“Just tired,” she replied.
“Perfectly fine. You can rest today,” he assured her, swinging his legs out of bed.
“I’ll make sure someone brings you food. I need to check in with Dad and see what’s been going on,” he said, pulling on a shirt as he spoke.
