The car stood ready, the bags and scrolls stowed away. Enzo leaned against the hood, waiting. Alpha Carter and Nikolai emerged from the house and headed toward him.
"Thanks for your help, my King," Alpha Carter said, his voice firm.
"Of course, Alpha. Try to learn who the rogue leader is," Nikolai replied.
"I’ll find out," Carter promised.
A pause lingered, and then Nikolai hesitated before asking, "If it’s okay, I have another question?"
Carter smiled, "You can ask me anything."
Nikolai’s brow furrowed. "What will happen to Alina? The little orphan girl?"
