The ship made the jump to light speed an hour after I left the bridge. I sat in my tiny quarters and reviewed my actions on the bridge. I contemplated an utterly shocking idea: did I actually want to be a regular Navy officer and not just an engineer? I really had enjoyed sharing input with the captain and getting to see how the bridge operated. “Wilson, what do you think? Would I make a good regular service officer?”
