Chapter 2: Mate

Michael's pow*

"hey dude come on lighten up, you will find your mate next year" Daniel my beta, has been my best friend since birth, and he has always had this great ability to see the good no matter what. he is just the beta I need since that has always been my problem. right now, we are going home after two days in Italy with a mating ceremony. I have been to a dozen of these events, all ending with nothing. As we sat in the plane waiting for takeoff, this lowly smell suddenly hit my nose. it was a mixture of roses and salty caramel. I have never smelled anything like it, it was delicious. *MATE! Mate is here* my wolf Brin yelled through our link. *can we please go find mate now? *  "attention all passengers, please fasten your seatbelt as we prepare for takeoff" the flight attendant announced over the speakers. *we'll look for her when we are in the air, okay? * I feel the silent agreement from my wolf. 10-15 min later we could move around. while I bulged out, Daniel mind linked me -what are you doing? - - she is here- it was short, but he got the point and was out his seat when I reached the front of the plain where the VIP seats are. and there at the front row, she was so pretty, A little woman with shoulder-length white hair, that felt softly along her light caramel-colored skin. she was wearing a white top, that perfectly outlined her upper body structure. The older woman next to her, cleared her throat. that is when I realized I had been staring at her for quite some time now. the young girl turned to face me. Her blue eyes lightened up when she discovered what I had just found out me. "Annabel, Erik the guy with his mouth open is my mate" I closed my mouth and cleared my throat a little embarrassed that she caught me staring. "I am sorry, I am alpha Michael wood of Bloodwood pack". As I was presenting myself, Daniel caught up with me. "and this is my beta Daniel Baer" Daniel waved awkwardly and stayed in the bag ground. I looked back at my mate. A short time after the old woman and man, that she called Annabel and Erik got up. "It was nice seeing you Luna, come and visit us as soon as you can, I know Simon is missing you" who was Simon now, my wolf was a little uneasy of another male missing my mate. "thanks Annabel and I will come in a month or two" the old couple left in the direction we came from. "what was that about?" Daniel asked. Honestly, I wondered the same thing. My mate giggles, "they moved to your seats so you could sit here with me" "that makes sense why did they call you Luna?" Daniel crawled in and took the window seat putting me in the middle between, him and my mate. "that is my name" my mate, Luna answered. I crawled in at my seat. "convenient, when you are going to be a Luna, now I will leave you two talking and get some sleep before we land" Daniel said and turned his bag to us. my mate giggles and send me a smile, but it does not reach her eyes. "Luna is everything okay? you don't look so happy", "it's just with you being an alpha I am not sure how it's going to work out" she looked away and started mumbling things to herself.  “What do you mean, are you in any trouble?” I feel Brin moving anxiously, in my head. She lays her hand on my shoulder, and with a charming and calm voice she says, “don’t worry, I was thinking of my job for the council, no one like me has ever been mated to an alpha”. I could see she was telling the truth, but at the same time, there was a hint of fear and sadness in her eyes, as she pulls out her phone and quickly dials a number. “Hello Ronald, Luna here, I have found my alpha mate get, what do you want me to do?” there was a minutes silence for the answer “Okay I’ll let the message move on, thank you very much Eric tell the council that this has no influence on their plans just where it develops, thanks again” she hangs up her phone and put it back in her pocket. “Sorry, about that now I’m all yours,” she says with a wink, making Brin purr in happiness. I Have been talking with my mate for hours, I’ve learned that she is an only child she grew up as a rough wolf therefor her scent can seem rough to others, but since she is my mate not to me, that is also why she prefers to hide her scent for people she does not know, her favorite color is a midnight dark black, with a hint of blue color, she loves all kinds of music and her favorite movie genre is horror or Crime. I answered the same questions, I have a little sister Irish she is only a year younger than me, but we rarely agree on anything, my favorite color is an icy crystal blue, music I really like Jass and country, and my favorite movie genres are sci-fi and mystery. We only stopped, when we should get of the plain. Luna, Annabel, Eric Daniel, and I went to the luggage claim together were, Luna said goodbye to Annabel and Eric, and the three of us headed for my truck at the parking lot. “Ready to go home my Luna,” I said and opened the door for her, she jumped in and Daniel jumped in the front, so Luna and I could get some sleep. No words can describe how happy I was when I fell asleep with my mate sleeping on my chest. I was fast asleep until the car hit the driveway to the packhouse. “Michael we are here”, I feel small sparks in my side as my mate tries to wake me gently. I open my eyes, and meet her gentle smile. I give her a quick peek on the lips, which made her fair skin blush slightly. She was the cutes girl I have ever seen. When we pulled up in front of the house, I see my sister come running out to the car. Luna is the first one out the car. I barely reach to turn my head before she is out in the back and pulling out her own luggage of the trunk. “OMG!” Irish yells so the whole pack hears. As I get out of the car my self my sister jumps on my mate, I can’t help my self and growl at her. My mate might be a werewolf, but she is so small and delicate, I was scared she would get hurt. Irish jump of her. Luna laugh and says, “hello Irish, I’m Luna your brother told me about you on our trip here” go next to her and take my own luggage - “ready to see our room?” I ask excited for us to be alone. “sure” she sends me a loving smile that goes all the way to her eyes. We walk upstairs to the top floor. The that has been mi e since my parents died was big enough to host a small family, and I have been longing to share it with someone. “what do you think?” I say as I admire my mate walking around the room. “it’s nice but it’s missing some personality and life” she says and walk over and drop down on the bed. “well you can do what ever you like with the room it’s ours and I don’t mind changes” I say as I put my luggage down next to hers. “I need to tell you something, and I need you to say yes” I see a worried look in her eyes as her smile, becomes smaller. “You can ask me anything, what is it” I say and sit down next to her holding her hand in mine. “The work I do for the council includes a lot of other people I would like to do that from here, if I may” she looks nervous. I can’t tell if she is nervous that I will say no, or if it is something else that is bothering her. “sure, you can, Luna isn’t just your name anymore, it is your title, too” I answer and see the smile returning in her eyes. “we should get so e sleep tomorrow is going to be a long day” I say, Luna gets up from the bed and goes to my closet, she pulls something out before storming off to the bathroom, not more than 3sec later I hear the water running. *go to mate* Brin says through the mind link. *want to go to mate*, he continues. I give in at last and go to the bathroom. “care if I join?” I ask standing in the doorway. “not at all” I hear her say. I quickly ger out of my clothe and join her in the shower. When we get out, she put on a t-shirt she grabbed from my closet. And goes out to the bed and snuggles up under the sheets. I watch her as I grab my self some clothes from my closet. I lay down next to her and lay my arm around her. I fall, asleep listening to her breathing.
