Down In The Depth

1354 Words

Like an unending emptiness, the blackness engulfed everything in its way in front of us. Deeper down the cavern, a sensation of uneasiness descended upon us, our footsteps resonating hollowly against the chilly stone floor. Ethan walked ahead, his g*n at the ready, looking for any danger in the shadows. He said, "Stay close," in a quiet, urgent voice. We're not sure what awaits us below. With a frightened flicker of her eyes, Ava nodded and trailed closely after him. "We need to stay alert," she said, putting her palm uncomfortably on her sword's hilt. "We cannot afford to relax." Cole trailed behind us, his feet slow and uncertain, his nerves frayed by our previous meeting. He said, "I-I don't like this," his voice hardly audible above a murmur. "It feels like we're going into a trap."
