Becky’s POV The room seemed weighty, as if the weight of all we had just unearthed was thickening the air. Everybody was on edge; the plan was in place. Though the continual thrum of danger made it impossible, I tried to calm my nerves. Paul was on great alert, back and forth with his fingertips stroking the handle of his rifle. Zara stood by the entrance listening for any movement while Jackson was at the window staring through the blinds. Though everyone was on edge, I couldn't get rid of the impression that things were about to grow worse. A loud crash came from outside, then subdued murmurs. Turning to Paul, my heart pounding, "Did you find that?" Paul nodded, his eyes narrowing as he approached the window, wary not of any noise. Jackson moved back, his face pallid. "We must leave.
