Birdie left Skyview and vowed never to return unless she was seeking revenge. She had little money. She could not use any credit cards because they would track her. Birdie laughed at that thought. Why would they bother tracking her? They had taken everything already, there was nothing left to take. "Oh, but that is where you are wrong, my dear. There is so much they can take from you if they know who you truly are," her wolf said. "Who am I?" she asked. "You are the true queen of the multicolored wolves. In the old days, they were called rainbow wolves." "Is that something special? Also, it's ridiculous to call me a queen, I am a pauper", she laughed. "Have you ever noticed that your wolf has two colors? If we include your eyes, then it's three colours." her wolf asked. "My wolf used to be black. One day, patches of red started to appear and my eyes would glow purple. My strength grew by leaps and bounds. People in the pack would call me a freak. Eventually, I was stopped from shifting and I never saw my wolf again." Birdie winced as she remembered those painful memories. "They were fools who had no knowledge of what you are. And you should be grateful that they didnt." "Why?" "Because you are special Birdie. If they knew what you are, you would be dead by now. You are a rainbow wolf, special wolves that were born from shifters who failed to turn at the right age. And if one made eighteen without shifting at all, then they were useless to the shifter community. They were abandoned and rejected by their mates. One priestess made a sacrifice to the moon goddess, begging her to come to the rescue of such wolves after so much suffering, shame, humiliation, and she did. They were blessed by the moon goddess to become powerful multicolored wolves. They had different colors, like a rainbow, hence the name. They were strong and fertile. They were envied by many and eventually they were hunted and killed because of jealousy. Some of them went into hiding but their bloodlines survived. You are who you are because of your father's bloodline. Everything you went through was to prepare you for your position as queen. You are strong, you are a warrior and you will provide safety for so many like you." Her wolf sounded proud and excited as she said this. "If they died out because they were hunted into almost extinction, then shouldn't I be worried that the same thing is going to happen to me? If the events of my last life ring true, then I am going to have three children a few months from now. I cannot afford to be on the run with three children. I want to give them a better life than the one we lived." She remembered the starvation of her children, all the nights they cried because of hunger. The beatings they received because they stole food from trash bins." Birdie increased the speed of her motorbike, she gritted her teeth with determination. She had got a second chance, her children's lives would not be lived like trash. She would raise them like royalty. After riding all night, she finally saw a billboard that said "Now leaving Skyview." Good riddance, Birdie thought to herself with a joyful smile. She would not miss this or anything to do with it. But when she returned, she would raze it to the ground. "We should get something to eat.The babies need to be healthy and strong," her wolf reminded her. She recalled that she had not eaten a thing since yesterday afternoon. She pulled over at the next gas station, fueled her motorcycle and asked for directions to the nearest cheap motel. The motel she was sent to was like a plague-infested hell hole. It was a run-down place with old beds and smelly sheets. The sink in the bathroom was brown with stains and rust. Birdie could barely bring herself to use the bathroom but she was broke and beggars could not be choosers. She left the motel after a cold quick shower and bought an eight dollar sandwich from a food truck down the road. As she ate, she budgeted for the rest of the money she had and wanted to cry. "We will find the money somehow," her wolf consoled her. "In case you are not aware, I have no special skills. I cant afford to take care of the children, I cannot even afford to feed myself or find a place to live. How are we going to afford to live?" Her wolf stayed quiet. She had no answers for Birdie at the moment. In the motel reception area, the television was showing news about Baylor Richards, a wealthy billionaire whose child was ill with some unknown disease. Apparently, he was doing charity work in hopes of God performing a miracle for his child. It was being discussed and people were mocking him for his choice. "Him." her wolf suddenly said. "We can get the money from him." "A rich billionaire who doesn't know who I am will just hand me money because!" "Because you are going to save the life of his child." "I can assure you that i am no doctor or God to save that child's life. And I know I am desperate, but there is no way I am going to con people. I am not a criminal." she said out loud. She noticed that the receptionist was looking at her weirdly. She looked like a crazy woman talking to herself. To avoid drawing any further attention to herself, she walked to her room. "You don't have to con him, you can use your blood." her wolf said. "Your blood is special, it can heal most human diseases. In fact, it will leave the person healthier, stronger and faster." "Wouldnt that get me into more trouble? What if bad people find out? I will be caught and put in a lab to be bled until i am killed off." "T-T-Then we can hide it. Hide the fact that you are using your blood." Birdie considered all the ways she could pull off such a feat without no one being the wiser. Finally, she figured that if the blood was in a syringe, nobody would know it came from her. And she can put some glucose water in those tiny bottles and give the boy to drink everyday for a week while claiming that its medicine and no one would be the wiser. The next step was to locate Richards and contact him. She found information about his personal secretary and hacked his account to get his phone number. She dialed him and prayed he would answer. After three rings, he picked up, "Hello." "I can cure your son, but I want five million dollars," she said. "If this is some kind of joke, I assure you that I will have you arrested." Mr. Richards replied. He sounded angry and impatient. "I am not joking, Mr. Richards. I know you brought your son to Midrand city because one doctor, Edwards, claims he can help you. I can assure you that he cannot. He is a con man and a thief. If you don't believe me, then ask around about his former student Ethel Haynes. After you do your research, call me." She hung up. She would give it another day. If she did not hear from him within one day, she would contact him again. Birdie underestimated Mr. Richards. Within two hours, he had called her back. "Meet me in Midrand city, he said." She got on her bike and set off immediately.
