Chapter 3 Kane carelessly parked the car by the sidewalk, splashing water on a man who was jogging by. Kane heard him yell as he ran up the stairs to the apartment building. Marisol’s apartment was located somewhere along the dodgier part of town, where you’re more likely to get mugged than find a decent falafel stand. It was an old, low-rise building made of brick and stone. The walls were covered with a thin layer of mold and the paint on the windowsills was beginning to chafe.
