The days blurred together after the boat incident. Daddy’s control had become quieter, but heavier. He no longer needed to raise his voice or use force. A simple look, a gentle touch on my collar, or a soft reminder of “our rules” was enough to make me obey. I spent most of my time in the nursery now, folding tiny clothes and staring at the crib.
