Tori
“Not this again,” I shook my head, vehemently, “I’m sorry I dressed up for you. It was a bad idea and one that I shouldn’t have been coaxed into.”
Tommy smiled, leaning back in his seat, arms crossed at his muscular chest, “I notice you don’t have any regrets about kissing me.”
I shifted in my chair, “I thought that was an unspoken regret.”
He lost his smile, turning back into hateful Tommy.
“I didn’t force you.”
“Coercion is a terrible look on you.”
He glared at me as if I’d punched him in the stomach.
“I’m using you for a short while, Tori, so no need to make a huge deal out of it.”
“I’m utterly flattered.”
“We’re going to the gun range tomorrow so be ready,” Tommy said, sipping his drink.
“I don’t own a gun and I’ve never shot one,”I told him, shoveling more pizza into my mouth.
Tommy’s face was priceless. I don’t think I’d ever seen such shock.
“You’re shitting me, right? Tori, your dad’s a cop!”
I just shrugged.
“He’s never really shown me what to do.”
Tommy pinched the bridge of his nose like he was losing his mind.
“Don’t be mad at me. You’re the one taking me prisoner, Knox.”
Tommy shook his head as if he just couldn’t quite make sense of me.
“I’ve got a lot of work to do on you, Loomis.”
Tommy
I almost thought she was lying to me, but I knew better. She was as innocent as they come.
I could almost feel myself taking all of that innocence away from her and it was a glorious emotion.
“Well, I need your schedule and then we can plan accordingly.”
“Fine,” She mumbles, “But I’m not shooting anyone or joining a cult or anything.”
I laughed at her words. I knew not why she didn't have more friends, to be honest. She’s smart, beautiful, funny—even if she is slightly awkward.
“Why don’t you have a boyfriend?” I fired this shot so I might as well hit the target.
She shifted uncomfortably, “I just don’t want to waste my time on them. Boys are trouble. You’re trouble and I am stuck with you and you’re not even my boyfriend.”
“That could change,”I wink.
“I wouldn’t want to share,” She c****d her head, “I feel like there’d be a whole bunch of women lined up to take you from me.”
She blushed, realizing she’d said too much.
“Tori, I don’t cheat on my women,” I told her, “And as far as s*x goes, that’s all it is. Sex.”
She fumbled on her phone until sending me her schedule.
“I am not budging when it comes to my other priorities,” She narrowed her eyes at me, “I am leaving in August for college so consider me gone already.”
I smiled, breathing in a relieving wisp of air. That was plenty of time to break her in.
Tori
I don’t know how, but we ended up at the warehouse again and back in Tommy’s room.
“Can you stay here?” He asked, sprawling across the bed, “Like for the night?”
I laughed harder than I needed to.
“Are you insane? I’ll see you at school and you can take me to the gun range tomorrow. That’s it.”
He stood up and pulled me on to the bed with him.
“You don’t resist me much, Loomis. Why’s that?” He was hovering over me and I knew my heart was going to burst right out of my chest.
“Because you are the bad guy and can hurt me,” I admitted to him. He was the villain and I prided myself on being somewhat strong, but I didn’t know everything about Tommy, but I knew enough.
“I won’t hurt you, Tori.”
“Then let me go.”
“That I cannot do,” He sighed as if he was struggling with his conscience, “The ride I’ll take you on won’t be forever, but it’ll take you to places you’ve never been before.”
“Like, I said. I’m stuck with you. It’ll be like serving a prison sentence.”
“Damn, Tori. I’m not that bad to be around,” He cupped my chin, “Let me do this, please?”
“Do what? Kiss me?”
“Anything I want.”
“No, you’re probably into kinky torture s**t,” I sat up and tried to move from the bed, but he grabbed my arm.
“I don’t hurt people like that, Tori, so you can get that out of your thick skull. As a matter of fact, I want to know why I can’t be all of your firsts. Any reason?”
I sighed, “Can nothing be sacred and special to you? Maybe that’s what I wanted. Stop trying to get me to open up to you—you didn’t have any problems with shutting me up when I wanted to know what was on your mind.”
He let go of my arm and motioned for the door, “Go on then. I know you have studying or some s**t to do, but don’t think even one time that you won’t come begging for me to lay you down and take you right on this bed, Tori Loomis.”
I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag, “You’re full of yourself.”
He chuckled, pulling at his zipper before I exited the room.
“You’ll be full of me soon, Tori!” He called out as I ran out of the warehouse.
Tommy
“Damn, you do suck at this,” I stood behind her at the range and I couldn’t even tell a soul where those bullets went, “I had no idea anyone was this bad of a shooter. I think my little five year old cousin can shoot better than you and he’s only playing retro Duck Hunt.”
Tori put the gun down and glared at me, “Then why am I here?”
I waved my arms around, “Why would anyone be here? We’re practicing.”
Tori curled her lips, “Do I really have to know this?”
“It’s best that you do,”I told her, standing behind her now and helping her with her positioning.
“Don’t try to grope me, Knox.”
“It’s the last thing I want to do while you’re holding a weapon, Tori, now pay attention.”
I helped her as best as I could and she was getting better, but I don’t think I was going to get her a gun until we had a few more practice sessions.
“You should ask your dad to help you,” I told her as we exited the range, “Tell him you just want to be safe and prepared for anything.”
“What if I just shoot you?” Tori huffed as we got into her car, “Then I’d at least get you off my back.”
“Then you’d be in prison and what would be the joy in that?” I offered, “Why can’t you just trust me?”
She turned to me with the look of so much hatred that I wasn’t a hundred percent sure where it was coming from.
“How do you trust someone who’s taking your life away from you?” She sobbed.
Then it hit me. Today was the second anniversary of her mother’s passing and here I was busting her chops for no reason.
“Tori...”
“Just get out when I get you home,” She said, sniffling, “I don’t want to hang out anymore today.”
I did just that. I didn’t want to see her hurting like that—not unless I was causing her the trauma.
“What are we doing tomorrow?” She rolled down her window and called to me.
I turned around and smiled.
“Anything I want?”
She sighed, rolling her eyes. Tear stains were present on her rosey cheeks and she nodded.
“Within reason, Tommy.”
I leaned into the window and smiled.
“You’re going to enjoy it. I know I will.”
