The Class In The Gloom

Although Orion was not highly regarded in the Empire, he was still an envoy of god for the Solaria empire. Killing someone of Orion's status was severely punishable. That's what the nobles against the truce waited for. Now they had a good reason to break the talks about a truce between Solaria and Lunarstella. Helio couldn't help but be disgusted by these nobles. If he hadn't stopped them, they would have been the ones killing Orion. But now they were acting like Orion was their child and asking for revenge... They were just using his death for their end. "Your Majesty, about tomorrow..." "No." Helio cut off Salazar. "We will still meet the Lunarstella's envoy for the truce." Helio replied though he was worried. Tomorrow the envoy of Lunarstella will come to the imperial capital of Solas to discuss the truce. With the death of Orion, the timing was very bad. It was as if everything was planned to break the truce... But Helio didn't want to break the talks when they were that near to a historical truce between their two empires. Helio was also angry at the nobles. The Ankouna Empire was already a big enough threat and those people wanted to antagonize the second most powerful Empire on the continent. "As you wish, Your Majesty." Salazar bowed nobly and left. Clank! The giant doors behind Salazar closed as he leaves the courthall. 'Perfect.' Salazar rejoiced how smoothly his plan was going. Apart from the sudden outburst of the i***t Austin, he was satisfied. 'Now, it's time to stir Lunarstella's anger.' Smirking inwardly, he walked off. *** [Dining Hall of Solaria Palace] "Is it true, Austin ?" Jake asked his friend. "Yeah... maybe you didn't hear right...?" Jaxon asked with hope. "No. I also saw the crescent moon crest." Austin denied while eating. "The Lunarstella Empire is responsible for Orion's death." Gasps_! Austin's words froze all his classmates who were eating. Since the day before, there had been a gloom in the class. Someone who had been with them for three years in school died after all. The worst part was that the culprit was probably the second most powerful Empire. There were talks about a truce but several people didn't want a truce anymore because of Orion's death. Austin was one of them. He would never ally with someone responsible for his classmate's death. Moreover, he wasn't alone. Even a few of his classmates were scared and wary of Lunarstella now. If they killed Orion, then they would not be safe either. "Sigh...we have a new enemy now..." "Yeah. I don't know if I can kill a human..." Jake and Jaxon complained. They were trained to kill people a few weeks after their summoning, but not all people could do it. Among them was Elena, as she was scared. But her other childhood acquaintances all succeed. After what happened in Rome and before their summoning, they were prepared mentally. "Guys...you have to be prepared. We are not on Earth anymore. We can die anytime..." Austin said in a serious tone. His friends nodded and resumed eating. "Elena, are you okay ?" Daisy asked, worried about her friend. "Um" Elena nodded while eating but it was obviously a lie. She had dark circles under her eyes. She couldn't even sleep that night because of nightmares. Nightmares of what happened in Rome a few years ago. Anna's outburst the day before and Orion's death took quite a toll on her. She wasn't the only one, as Anna seemed always angry now. She was quietly eating but her mind was utterly exhausted. She really wanted to see her family on Earth. If Isabel hadn't been there to support her she would have already broken down. Sienna and Aura were looking better, though it was on the surface. Sienna had already recomposed herself but Aura had difficulties. She was tired of all these misfortunes happening to her. The numerous k********g attempts on Earth, the Rome incident, the bus incident, her teacher dying and now her classmate. "It will be okay, Aura." Maeva grasped Aura's hand though she was shivering. "Yeah, we will survive for our teacher and Orion." Noemi added, feeling sad about the death of her teacher on the bus and classmate now. Aura nodded with a smile. She was happy to have such friends with her in this world. "Oh, you are back Andrew." John's voice rang out and they all turned toward the entrance. "Yeah." Andrew nodded with a bitter face. "She is still in her quarter ?" Joseph asked Andrew. Andrew tried to call Liana to eat but she declined. Now it was nearly confirmed that Andrew and Liana would marry together. Andrew acted like a proper fiance to Liana. Unfortunately, Liana still treated Andrew like before. "Yes, she seemed to be sick." Andrew replied awkwardly. "What an idiot." Jordan, a few seats away, sneered at Andrew. He was mad that those nobles preferred Andrew over him, but it was okay as long the other four girls didn't approach him. Jordan was right as they didn't really care about him, even more so for Anna. "Anna..." Isabel looked at her friend eating with a blank expression. As her friend, she knew that Anna was slightly interested in Orion and that's why she teased her. But she never thought that Anna would react like that. She seemed hell bent on finding the culprit behind that. "Isabel, there is something strange about Orion's death." "Eh ?" Isabel saw a rare determined expression on Anna's face. "Strange ?" "Yeah, the timing of the meeting with Lunarstella is too much of a coincidence." Anna replied while playing with her fork. "What do you mean, Anna...?" Clank_ Putting down her fork, she whispered to Isabel. "I think the nobles of Solaria killed Orion and put the blame on Lunarstella."
