The bond may have severed but the goddess decided to send her one last reminder that her heart once held the other end of that bond. And today, it burned itself to cinder in the very depths of it. Alyna kneeled on the ground, back curled and arms bracing her face. She cried in a mix of mild grief and a whole lot of pain. The numbness she fought so hard for came undone in a split second with one unforeseen possibility. Cedric had died. "Alyna!" The roar sounded distant. As if she was drowning in the depths of the ocean. Alyna was unable to respond to the call. Her mind was fogging up from the prolonged pain. "Alyna!" Another call. This time it came with a heavy pressure. Someone knelt in front of her and cupped her face. His touch was a wash of cold water on her scorching skin.
