Kyren meant I was nothing but one of his booty calls. Me. Of all people. How dare he?
I'll show him what a late-night distraction is. I'll show him that I don't belong to him or anybody else.
I quietly stretched my limbs out on a bench inside the dimly lit arena. This time of night, it was always freezing, but I didn't mind. The cold grounded me.
I had been going over the Spirit Day routine for the past two hours. Coach Laurel expected nothing but perfection from us, and as the cheer captain, I had to be on top of my game.
I turned off the loud music I had been playing on repeat. I lifted my gaze and ran my fingers through my ponytail. My hand froze inside my hair as I spotted a man staring at me from the other end of the corridor.
Black hoodie. He was wearing a black hoodie. The man slowly started approaching me, and my heart started pounding faster inside my chest.
I scurried over to my bag and nervously fumbled for my taser. My hand finally wrapped around the small device, and I pulled it out before holding it out in front of me.
"Stay back!" I demanded, my voice echoing through the empty arena.
The man slowly raised his hands before stepping into the light. "Whoa, easy. I'm the new transfer." He apologised, and a light frown creased my brows.
I didn't lower the taser.
"Coach Ronan told me I could get some ice time tonight before my first official practice tomorrow." He explained.
I hesitantly lowered the taser before taking a good look at him.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me." I breathed out a chuckle.
"You're obviously spooked out by this creepy arena." He joked, and a small smile rested on my lips.
"I'm Hailey. Coach Ronan's daughter." I kindly introduced myself before stretching my hand out in his direction.
"I'm Oliver." He uttered before gently taking my hand in his. "You're freezing." He muttered before shrugging his hoodie off and wrapping me in his warmth.
My cheeks flushed at our sudden proximity. "Thank you," I said, before looking into his blue eyes.
I saw movement in the corner of my eye, and the smile dropped from my face. Kyren was here. He confidently walked over to us and stopped right behind me. A cold shiver ran down my spine.
"Practice starts tomorrow at six," Kyren said, his words directed towards Oliver. "Go get some rest, the team's curfew was twenty minutes ago."
"My dad gave him permission." I cut Kyren short, and I could feel his silver eyes burning into me.
"I don't care what Coach told you." He said, his voice low and cold. "Come on, your dad asked me to take you home." He uttered before wordlessly picking up my bag and stuffing my pom-poms inside.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Oliver." I kindly stated, and Kyren pulled me along with him, his hand holding a firm grip on my arm.
I let him guide me all the way to the parking lot until I finally snapped. "Would you let me go?" I angrily yelled into his face.
"What the f**k are you wearing?" He muttered under his breath before pulling the zipper down. He pulled me out of Oliver's hoodie before stuffing it into his car along with my bag.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, my voice filling with anger.
"I leave you alone for two hours, and you've already found a new audience. That won't do." He said, before leaning down to my ear. "You aren't allowed to talk to him." He smirked.
"Get out of my way." I pushed against his chest but he didn't move.
"Talking to him won't change what happened between us," he chuckled before sliding his hand from my waist down to my ass.
"I hate you." I seethed through my teeth.
"Hate me then. It won't stop me from getting what I want. And it certainly won't stop you from letting me." His teeth grazed my earlobe as he gave my ass a possessive squeeze.
I shook my head. "You humiliated me, Kyren. I don't want anything to do with you." I snapped at him, and he took my chin in his hand.
"We'll have nothing to do with each other when I decide I'm bored." He said, his minty breath fanning my cheeks.
Before I could stop myself, I slammed my hand down against his cheek, leaving a stinging sensation on my palm. He didn't flinch; his expression remained terrifyingly calm. I moved to slam my fists into his chest, but his hands firmly wrapped around my wrists, pinning them against the cold metal of his car.
My chest was heaving, and my eyes were filled with the hatred I had just confessed.
Kyren didn't ask his lips just crashed against mine in a punishing mixture of teeth and tongue.
I tried to fight him for a split second. My words sounded muffled against his lips. My hands slowly softened in his grip. I desperately started kissing him back with the same hatred I had just yelled at him.
He pulled back from me, his pupils blown wide with lust. "Keep hating me," he rasped against my lips, before he crushed his mouth back to mine in a searing kiss. Tasting me. Claiming me.
"In the car, Hailey. Now. Unless you want the entire security team to see exactly what you look like when I'm done with you." He said, before opening the door to the backseat.
We slid into the backseat, and the door slammed shut behind us. Kyren pulled me onto his lap, adjusting me until I straddled him.
His hands landed on my ass, and he pressed me against the hard ridge in his pants.
My eyes landed on the spilled contents of my bag, scattered across the backseat. My cellphone screen lit up. A message from an unknown number popped up on the screen, and I pulled back from Kyren before grabbing my phone.
Unknown Number: The rookie's hoodie looks better on the floor than it does on you. And Kyren's hands... I might have to break them for touching what's mine.
