KYREN'S POV The basement of the Security Annex smelled like shoe polish and stale coffee. I sat between Josh and Emmett, my eyes burning from staring at the flickering blue light of the surveillance monitors. We've been in here for six hours. A shadowy figure finally flickered across the screen, making me lean forward in my chair. "Go back," I rasped, my voice sounding like gravel. "Tuesday night. 11:45 PM." Josh hit a key. The footage resolved to the outside of the gym. The campus was a ghost town. The streetlamps cast long, skeletal shadows across the parking lot. A figure stepped out from behind a pillar. It was him.
