The low hum of the engine was the only sound in the car for a while. Cody sat in the passenger seat, one leg lazily stretched out, the other tapping restlessly against the floor mat. He kept glancing at Xavier, whose jaw was tight as he gripped the steering wheel. "You're awfully quiet for someone who called me at one in the damn morning," Cody finally muttered, breaking the silence. Xavier didn't look away from the road. His eyes were cold, yet clouded. "He's in the country." "Yeah, you said that already. Ed Blackwood is back. Big deal. You've faced him before. Why are your knuckles turning white on that wheel, huh?" Xavier exhaled sharply but still didn't answer. Cody leaned closer, watching his best friend with narrowed eyes. "X, talk to me. What's going on?" "He wants a meeting.
