The night was quiet, but Sandra's heart wasn't. She leaned against the iron railing of her balcony, a half-empty glass of vodka dangling loosely from her fingers, the burn of the alcohol tracing down her throat like fire. The stars were scattered above her head, but they felt like nothing more than cold eyes watching. Watching her drown, watching her remember. Her silk robe fluttered in the night breeze, but she barely felt it. She was burning inside...burning with the memories she could never wash off her skin.
