Run

Chapter 64: The word hung in the air. Run. I looked at Kael. "Run where?" "I don't know. Somewhere. Anywhere. We get Lily in the truck and we go." "And the club?" "The club can survive without me." "And the compound?" "The compound can burn." I looked at him. "You don't mean that." "I do mean it." He walked over to me. "The compound is a thing. The club is a thing. You and Lily are not things. You're my family." I looked at him. "Kael—" "I'm not going to let him take her. I'm not going to let him put her in a car and drive her away and I'm not going to let him raise her. I'd rather burn everything I've ever built than let that happen." I looked at him. "Okay," I said. "Okay?" "Okay." Kael looked at me. "We're going to run," I said. "But we're not going to run alone."
