My mom wasn’t too please to pay for screen repair, but at least it wasn’t too expensive. Me and her had talked about me going to the pack house. Luna Eve was excited and wanted me to come stay. My mom however wasn’t as keen to the idea. She still wanted us to have my birthday together. My birthday was fast approaching, only a couple weeks left. I didn’t want to think about it. My mom finally left the choice up to me, and I decided if I wanted to know James better, staying a few days at the pack house at the very least would help. Today I was packing my bag and I had a slight feeling of dread. Angelica sat on my bed watching me.
“I wish you weren’t going.” She voiced out to me.
“It won’t be for long.” I replied to her, putting pajamas into the bag.
“But then you’ll be to college shortly after.” I paused because I didn’t think about how college would be starting soon here.
“I didn’t think about that.” I never wanted to go to the training college. Their classes started not long after high school was out.
“I know, Just visit often ok?” She was sounding sad.
“I will, you can stay in my room while I’m gone. If I don’t come back, make it your own.” I lifted my bag and looked at her. I thought she would be elated but she wasn’t. I walked over and hugged her. “Don’t be sad, I love you sis.” She hugged me back tightly.
“I love you too.” We heard a honk and I knew James was outside. I looked out the window and saw James and a giddy Madison out front. I searched for Declan but didn’t see him and that made me slightly upset. I opened the door pulling my bag and holding a box of stuff. James walked up and grabbed the box of stuff taking it to the trunk. My mom came out and hugged me.
“I would ask your father to come hug you, but he’s worried he will try to rip James to shreds.” She looked at me her eyes full of tears.
“It’s ok mom. It will only be a week at the most.” I reassured her. She shook her head,
“It won’t be a week, you’re going to fall in love with the staff. You’re going to fall in love with your guy… well even more then you do.” I looked James who was loading my bag in. He smiled as he closed the trunk. “Hannah, I’m so proud of everything you’ve done.” Her tears had started to spill over and for a moment it felt like she was saying good bye to a deceased loved one.
“Mom I’m not even going that far away!” I told her.
“But you won’t be under my care and protection.” I hugged her again.
“Mom I have to go, I love you. I’ll be back.” I walked toward the car and Madison hugged me.
“You know I live in one of the side houses! We are going to be so close!” She jumped and I heard James laugh.
“Ok let’s give Hannah some air.” James said and Madison backed up. James kissed me. “Let’s go, my mom has been setting up your room since I approached her with the idea of you coming.” James held my hand as I got in the car. I looked to the empty back seat and Madison dove in. I laughed as my heart pinged with sadness. I still hadn’t heard from Lee. The drive wasn’t long to the pack house and we listen to Madison go over all the stuff she wanted to do while I stayed there. When we pulled up Declan was standing out front going over what looked like some report. James parked the car.
“Are you ready?” James asked and I gave him a weak smile. “Hey this is going to be good.” He leaned over and kissed my cheek. We got out and he popped the trunk. Declan walked over and grabbed a my bag and James grabbed the box I had packed.
“Hey Luna, so you’re moving in with us?” Declan said giving me a side hug.
“Yep looks that way!” It was the first time I had answered to Luna with out a drip of abrasiveness. We walked inside and walked down the main hall to the stairs. It looked semi familiar to my dream but less fire. We got to the top of the stairs and they opened the door to my room. The same room from my dream. I paused and stared at the door. Madison grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. The room didn’t look like anything from my dreams. A beautiful four post bed so fluffy I could sink into it. The walls were a light yellow color. The shelves were empty presumably so I could fill it with my stuff. A small dresser was in the corner and on top of that a small tv. The closet wasn’t small but it wasn’t very large. I could walk into it but only enough to turn around.
“Well what do you think?” James asked watching my expression of awe.
“She’s speechless Darling. She must love it!” I turned and saw Luna Eve standing in the door way.
“Luna! Oh thank you for this beautiful room.” I bowed my head and Luna Eve giggled.
“You don’t have to be so formal to mama Eve.” Madison said giggling also.
“It’s true, you could call me mom as you will be my daughter in law soon! I’m happy you’ve decided to stay with us.” She walked over and hugged me. She was such a tall slender woman but I knew she was strong and still held records for her combat training. “Now children, let’s go and let her get settled. Let’s have a special celebration dinner tonight!” She ushered everyone out but James and paused at the door. “Hannah I hope you will be happy here and make this place your home.” She closed the door and as soon as it was closed James hugged me tightly.
“I’m so happy you decided to stay with us.” He squeezed me tightly and his warmth felt magical.
“I’m glad too.” I hugged him back. He pulled away and gave me a soft kiss.
“I’ll let you get settled.” He opened the door and walked away. I sat down on my bed and looked out the window. The view of the garden was gorgeous. As I watched the sun dance on the freshly cut blades of grass, I felt sad. It was like a chapter of my life was over and something new was beginning. Something I couldn’t control.
