The day had arrived. I looked at myself in the mirror. I still hadn’t talked to James, but there was no turning back. My feelings had grew and part of me knew it was because my birthday was close. Madison walked in, I could see she had brought me a coffee.
“Are you ready for today?” Madison was her cheery self. It was like yesterday didn’t even happen. The door opened and James stepped inside. I didn’t look at him. I was ashamed of myself.
“Hey.” He said in a apologetic tone.
“Hi.” I said lowly.
“Hannah I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to get so upset. I just couldn’t stand the thought of losing you.” I looked up at him and he kept his eyes on the ground.
“Awwwww” Madison looked at us.
“Come here.” I said to him and he walked up and hugged me. The warmth from his embrace made me smile. Maybe everything would be ok. He gave me a soft kiss and left letting me prepare for tonight. Madison came over and brushed my hair. She put it in a beautiful braid.
“I would do more but once you transform, it’ll fall off.” I watched myself in the mirror looking at where soon a mark would be. I closed my eyes thinking about all my visions and about the river yesterday.
“Hey… HEY!” Madison yelled. I opened my eyes. “It’s almost time.” I stood up and put on my dress. We walked to the front doors. Declan stood there as well as Luna Eve. I walked up to James who took my hand. We walked to the edge of the forest where we both transformed into our wolves. He nuzzled me and I heard clapping. I knew Luna Eve was breaming with pride. Soon her eldest pup would reach his full potential. James took off and I followed him. As we raced between the trees and I felt free. Free to go where I wanted and do what I wanted. James playfully bumped me a few times and I sped up. He told me the old tales went, who ever got to the edge of the water first ran the marriage, I desperately wanted to win. James ran past, I should’ve known he would be faster. He slid to a stop reaching the water first and howled signaling him as the winner. We transformed back. James took my hand and we watched the water. He looked at me.
“Hannah.” I looked up at him. “Tell me one more time?” I touched his face.
“I love you.” I said to him. He leaned down and kissed me. This was it. All this time had led to this point. This is the man the goddess had picked just for me. James led me to a soft patch in the clearing. We sat down and laid back. Looking at the stars. I thought about how I had laid down with Lee that night and watched the dancing stars. How perfect that night felt as well. How our bond grew that day. James sat up and leaned over. He kissed me and I kissed him back. He felt my body, soon everything would belong to him and only him. He pulled back and looked into my eyes.
“You’re beautiful.” I kissed him and he kissed my neck. I knew he wanted to mark me right away. I pushed him so I was on top and he laughed. I reached down and started to stroke him.
“Mmm you want some before?” He said enjoying it. I nodded I trailed kisses down him until I was over his manhood. I took him in and he groaned. I swirled my tongue around him and listening to him lose his mind. I slowly moved purposely to draw out time. James pulled me off of him and tossed me down on my back. He kissed me and pulled my legs open. He smirked at me as he entered. I let out a soft moan as this time he went in slow instead of hard like he usually did. He kissed my lips speeding up his thrusts. He closed his eye and leaned his head back. He came back placing kisses down my neck stopping at at area between my shoulder and neck, the place he would soon mark me.
Then I heard it. Something I didn’t think I would ever hear.
“Madison” I heard James say.
I pushed him off me.
“What!? What did you call me!?” My breathing was heavy.
“I’m sorry I’m sorry I didn’t mean that.” James looked panicked. I looked around confused.
“I knew it.., I KNEW IT!” I jumped up. “Any time my heart ached when SHE was around! Any time I felt jealous when I saw her. You are NOT over her!” I started to walk and James grabbed my hand.
“No Hannah please. I love you, it’s hard to get over your first love. I am so so sorry, please don’t leave!” James was pleading and I wanted to hurt him. I wanted him to hurt so bad.
“Let me go!” I ripped my hand away and looked at him as coldly as he had me that day in the diner.
“Your brother is a better lover anyways.” As soon as the words left my lips we both crumbled in pain. I could tell his heart ached as much as mine was and had in the past few months. Any time he felt broken for Madison.
“What.. what…” James was trying to find the words. I just yelled out in pain. “You and Lee?” He was trying to piece it together.
“He was my FIRST!” I continued even though it hurt. I wanted him to feel the pain. Feel what he had done to me. James yelled and punched the ground.
“I should’ve known! Him sneaking out, coming home… aaarg! Every morning! How dare you do this to me!” He glared at me and I scrambled to get up. James stood and walked towards me.
“He’s too late Hannah! You belong to ME!” James grabbed me and held me down.
“Stop it! Go be with Madison ARRG!” The pain of saying her name hurt.
“You know that’s not possible ugh!” James clenched his chest and panted. “She’s mated to my best friend. You’re MY mate. You may not be her, but you’re mine!” He looked crazy and I scrambled to get away.
