I woke up before Lee. It was still fairly early. I got dressed for a jog. I needed to clear my nerves, Redmoon was coming today. I text Madison to call when she was up. I walked to the front doors and saw a guard I recognized, it was Jeffery from when I had tea with Luna Eve.
“Good morning Jeffrey, if you see Lee, will you tell him I went for a jog?” Jeffery bowed slightly.
“Yes miss.” I walked past him out into the cool spring air. I started off down the road just listening to my music. I jogged alittle further out then normal and stopped to take a breath and track my pulse. I looked around at how quiet it was. My phone buzzed. It was Madison telling me she was awake and to FaceTime her asap. I typed the FaceTime button and she picked up right away but the video was grainy and jumping around.
“Can … he… me?” She said
“Madison I can’t hear you, I must not get good reception here!” I yelled back.
“Call … back!” Madison’s phone cut off and I put my phone in my pocket. Guess I was going to have to head back to the pack house. I started to walk at first but then I sensed something. I looked around but didn’t see anything. I started to jog but couldn’t shake that something was watching me. I got off the back road and back to the main road. I turned and didn’t see anything or anyone. I jogged back and when I got through the door I opened my phone.
“Hannah.” James stood near by. I jumped at the sight of him.
“Yes may I help you?” I asked walking down toward the stairs.
“Why am I getting reports that you left the pack house without supervision?” He crossed his arms.
“So I need supervising now? I’m not a pup.” I put my phone away and glared at him.
“No, you are apart of the Greyback family now. With Redmoon coming, I asked everyone to stay in their houses today and told all guards to accompany anyone leaving.” I turned around and Jeffery wasn’t there.
“I told Jeffery I was going.” I pointed at the door. James grabbed the nearest guard.
“Bring Jeffery to my office as soon as he’s located.” James shoved him away.
“Y-yes sure! Right away!” The young guard ran off.
“You.” He pointed at me. “Come.” He pointed toward his office.
“Oh like hell we’re doing that again.” I went to head toward mine and Lee’s room.
“Hannah I just want to talk. I want to be on the same page when Redmoon gets here.” Everything was telling me to get Lee or grab a guard. “Like you always say. No funny business.” I looked at him and he smiled.
“Fine.” I walked to James’s office and I sat in the chair on the other side of his desk. He took his seat and looked at me.
“Declan filled me in on everything. Our biggest fear was if they were coming to fulfill their original sentence and put you to death.” He stopped and I grew concerned. I hadn’t thought about that before. “Our other concern was wether or not they were coming to take you back to be in their pack.”
“I won’t go anywhere with out Lee.” I told him and he rolled his eyes.
“Yes yes. Anyways we are prepared to fight if the desire is for you to stay with us. If you are truly a werewitch, then those powers can be used for the good of the pack. Our problem would be someone to show you how to control and use those powers, because no one here is a werewitch. It’s something we may be able to arrange for college courses if you are planning to stay. So my question is, are you planning to stay?” We stared at each other for a uncomfortable amount of time.
“I need to discuss it.” I didn’t take my eyes away. It felt like a staring contest.
“Hannah I need a answer right now. No more letting you think for months on end just to disappoint people.” He was never going to get over this.
“Are we back on that?” I asked getting angry yet again.
“I don’t know are we? Because I believe I asked for a answer.” I looked away and thought for a second. I knew what I wanted but I also knew what my answer had to be right then.
“We planned to stay.” I said to him.
“Oh great! I’ll just jot down some things.” James started writing and moving pages. He slid a paper towards me.
“What’s this?” I asked picking it up.
“A contract of course. It’s your admittance to the college and that all and any power you have will be used for the good of the pack and unless we relinquish your contract you are to stay here at Greymoon. It also ensures your protection until you are able to control said power.” He held up another paper. “I have one for Lee also but it’s not quite as extensive, just his college forms.” He slid a pen towards me.
“So I’m essentially signing my life to you?!” I scoffed and slid the paper back. James laughed and slid it back over.
“Not at all, this is just a four year contract that follows you through college. After college we will revisit your contract. If I feel you’ve completed your training to the best of your abilities and your powers are under control then we’re done here. You and Lee can run off to Acapulco!” He whooshed his hand and smiled. “But I can’t ensure your protection unless I have this signed. Hannah please.” He lifted the pen. I took a deep sigh and signed the contract.
“Very good!” He picked the papers up and walked to the other end of the room. He started making photo copies. He looked at me. “Sorry I need to send these to our pack lawyer and I’m making you a copy… I don’t have a secretary.” I chuckled and set the pen down. He walked back over and stapled together the sets and handed me one. “There you are. You’re free to go.” He picked up the phone and hit a button. He turned his chair and leaned back. I slowly got up and walked to the door. When I opened it, I saw Lee coming down the hall. He looked at me confused.
“Why were you in James’s office?” He asked seeming slightly upset. I handed him the papers and started walking off to the room to get changed.
“What is this Hannah?” Lee asked as we entered our room.
“It’s a contract. I agreed to go to the college and learn to use my power for the good of Greymoon. It will ensure our protection or what ever.” I started to change into normal clothes.
“Hannah you didn’t have to do this.” He set the papers down.
“I did. I didn’t have a choice.” I swallowed my sadness, I was tired of crying.
“I wish I was present for this. I never would’ve let you sign.” Lee shook his head.
“It’s really ok. We have to get ready anyways. Redmoon is coming today.” Lee looked at me sadly. He walked over and hugged me.
“You’re not alone here, you have me. Please include me in things.” He was upset I was still acting like I was a single she wolf making all my own decisions when he was apart of my life now.
“I’m sorry, I will try harder to include you.” I kissed him and we finished getting ready.
