I sat up and saw Lee sitting at the end of the bed texting someone. I pulled myself back so I was leaning against the head board. He turned and smiled when he saw I was awake.
“Good morning beautiful.” He said as he crawled up and laid his head in my lap. I ran my fingers through his hair.
“What do you want to do today?” Lee asked
“Can we stay like this forever?” I asked him. I wanted to forget the dream. I knew we didn’t have much time if it was true.
“I wish! Eventually we’re going to need food and water.” He was such a smart *ss.
“Har har jokester. I meant with you.” Right after I said that both our phones started to ring. We looked at each other and I grabbed mine. “It’s Madison.”
“James.” Lee looked at me and I nodded. He answered, I answered mine.
“Hello Hannah?” Madison asked.
“Yes Maddie, it’s me.” I answered.
“I went to your house and your mom said you never came home. James sent me to find you and he only said it was official pack business!” She giggled after trying to sound stern imitating James. I was silent. “Hello?.. Hannah where are you anyways.” Madison asked.
“The beach.” I replied looking at Lee who was seemingly arguing with his call.
“Oh my goshhhh that’s so romantic! Why don’t you ever take me to the beach Dec?!” I heard her poking fun at him. A distant ‘I’m sorry babe!’ Came from the back ground.
“Madison I think I have to call you back.” Madison picked up on my worry.
“Are you ok?” She seemed concerned now.
“We are fine but I think Lee is talking to James now.” I said to her.
“Ok but call me later! Don’t forget!” She said back trying to sound stern again.
“Ok, I promise.” I laughed and we said our goodbyes. I looked at Lee who was getting off the phone as well.
“Fine! FINE!” He hung up. He looked down and put his hand on the back of his head.
“Are you ok?” I asked him.
“I’m sorry, we have to go back.” He said and I nodded.
“Redmoon is coming.” I said to him. He looked at me quickly with confusion.
“Did Madison tell you? James didn’t want to worry you, he wanted to tell you when we got there.” I shook my head no. “How? Did you hear him? Was my phone that loud?” He looked at his phone.
“No. They’re coming for me.” I stood up and walked to the bathroom.
“What?” Lee followed me to the bathroom but I closed the door. I didn’t want a audience to watch me pee. “Hannah, how do you know that. James said they requested a audience with you.” I finished up in the bathroom and started washing my hands. I came out to Lee standing there. “Don’t ignore me like I’m not here.” He said and I sighed.
“Ok but I’m not crazy ok? You can’t think I’m crazy.” He crossed his arms and waited. “The Moon Goddess told me they would be coming.” I walked over and started fishing my tooth and hair brush out of the bag.
“Excuse me the Moon Goddess?” He said sounding skeptical.
“Yes the Moon Goddess.” I mimicked him. He scoffed. “I told you I’m not crazy.” I pointed a finger at him.
“And what did the Moon Goddess say?” He asked still skeptical.
“She told me Redmoon was going to come for me, but couldn’t tell me if they were coming peacefully or not.”
“Why does Redmoon want you? They’re our rival pack.” Lee waited for me to brush my teeth. I spit and looked at him.
“I guess I’m adopted and I’m a descendent of Redmoon. My powers or what ever are coming out now that I’m of age and marked.” I brushed my hair and Lee’s mind look like it was starting to explode. “This reminds me that I need to call my mom.” I said stopping mid brush.
“Wha… why are you taking news like that so well!?” Lee walked off and I heard the bed creak as he sat down. I pulled my hair up and he went back to the bed area. I sat down next to him as he looked lost in thought, worry etched over his face.
“It’ll be ok.” I rubbed his leg. “We’ll get back and go to my parents place and things will be ok.”
“Hannah we can’t, we have to stay at the pack house. I know you don’t want to but that’s where they have the most protection.” His voice was stern and absolute.
“Ok.” I said as I stood up swallowing my emotions and dug clothes out of my bag. I grabbed a pair of leggings, a tank top, and a sweater out. I started to change and Lee watched me as if he was waiting for me to say something. He got up and hugged me.
“I’m sorry our trip was cut short.” He said. I turned and kissed him.
“It’s ok Lee. I know, it’s my fault everything was cut short.” I didn’t want to go back. I wanted to keep going where ever the world took Lee and I.
“Hannah, we’ll figure this out.” Lee kissed my forehead. We got ready and checked out of our hotel. We got back into the car and we sat in silence for a moment. We could both feel our disappointment. Lee started the car and reached for my hand. I grabbed it and he started to drive back to Greymoon.
