Seeking The Past

Chapter 28 - Afternoon Tea.

James would rarely let go of my hand at breakfast. He kept kissing me as I tried to eat. This would usually annoy me, but I craved his attention. I knew he was craving mine as well.

“My my!” I heard someone behind us. I turned to see Luna Eve looking at us with a smile. “You certainly have a hold on my son don’t you?” She giggled. I looked at James and smiled.

“I guess so.” I squeezed his hand.

“I was hoping I could steal you away this afternoon for tea or coffee in the garden.” I knew at some point she was going to ask me away.

“I would love that!” I said enthusiastically trying to hide that fact I knew what it was about already.

“Wonderful dear, I can’t wait myself.” She grinned and walked away. James looked down when I looked at him.

“It’s ok, maybe it’s future Luna business.” James looked at me a little shocked.

“Are you saying you’re close to your decision?” I nodded. He kissed me over and over.

“Settle down lover boy!” I heard Declan as suddenly James was pulled away from me. “Pack business time.” He said holding up a folder.

“Fine! I’ll see you later babe.” James said as Declan dragged him away. Madison plopped down next to me.

“Are you in heat or something? I’ve never seen him like that.” Madison said chewing on some bacon.

“I told him I was close to my decision.” I said watching him walk away. He looked over the moon and Declan patted his back and laughed. I heard Madison choke on her bacon.

“You’re what!?” Madison put her hand on my forehead.

“I’m not sick or crazy. I can’t deny I love him, something in me is begging me to stay. Lee won’t respond to any message I’ve sent him. I’m going to be eighteen soon. We promised we would be marked and bonded by then.” I looked down.

“You don’t have to force yourself to do it if you don’t want to, but I’ve never seen him so happy. If it’s what you want, Then go for it.” Madison put her hand on mine and gave me a smile before chomping part of her bacon again. I giggled at her.

After breakfast I unpacked my box. I put my books on the shelf and realized I still had the library book. I left it on top of the dresser. I picked out my outfit for tea and then flipped through channels on my tv. I checked my phone a ridiculous amount. I got up and looked out at the garden where I could see Luna Eve having people set up a table. I sighed and got changed, I felt incredibly nervous knowing she was going to talk about marking. A knock was at my door and I opened it, a guard stood there.

“Luna Eve is ready for you Lady Hannah.” I walked with him out to the garden. When he was finished escorting me, he bowed.

“Thank you Jeffery.” Lady Eve said as a maid poured tea in our cups. I sat down and added some cream and sugar. I took a sip and was in love with the taste. It had a certain spice to it, it was perfect for the out doors and made the smell of all the evergreens enhanced.

“I’m glad you like it. It’s a special blend I mixed up. It heightens the senses.” Luna Eve took a drink. “Refreshing.” She said looking around her.

“Thank you for inviting me to drink with you.” I said to her, Still nervous as ever.

“Oh my dear, I know you know there’s more to this then sipping tea.” She smiled.

“Yes ma’am.” I said looking down.

“I was wondering why you haven’t let my son mark you. I wanted to know from you.” She set her tea down and looked at me, her eyes were like daggers.

“Well, it’s hard to explain. I do feel the mate bond, probably not as strong as him. I’ve always wanted to travel and study abroad. James knew this, so he asked me to wait until my eighteenth birthday to decide.” I didn’t look up. That was what it was in the beginning. Then it felt like my love grew with Lee as well.

“Is that the truth?” She asked. I nodded. She smiled a sickeningly fake smile. “Do you not feel the mate bond as strong or is your mate bond divided between both my sons?” I looked up shocked. She reached down and then placed Lee’s cell phone on the table. I stared at it, worried they read my messages. “Lee is a darling boy. He’s always been more sensitive.”

“Y-yes… I agree.” I didn’t know what to say or what she wanted to hear.

“Lee won’t be back until your bond with my son is complete.” She narrowed her eyes. My heart started to ache. “Once James has his mate marked and bonded, his powers will come to its full potential. I know you’re not stupid, In fact Luna woman are among the smartest and most strong woman. I have no doubt you’ll do the title justice.” I nodded and looked down. It looks like my choice was made for me at graduation.

“I understand completely.” I said looking up into her eyes. Her expression warmed again.

“I’m glad we’re on the same page. I didn’t mean to cause you any pain my dear.” She made a motion and maids brought out little finger sandwiches. “Eat up my dear! You may need a little more meat on those bones if you are to give me grand pups any time soon.” She giggled and a maid giggled as well. I grabbed a sandwich and took a bite. My stomach felt sick as I wondered how many messages had she read?
