Maera was already in Lillia’s room when she woke the next morning. “Good morning, my lady,” Maera smiled gently. “Did you sleep well?” Lillia sat up slowly and stretched, a soft yawn escaping her as she rubbed her eyes. Her hair stuck out in every direction. “Gu’mornin…” She murmured thickly. “I tried.” Then she fell back against the pillows with a dramatic sigh. Did she sleep well? Lillia searched her mind and found nothing. There were no dreams. No rest. Just blackness, and beneath it, a gnawing hunger that made her stomach tighten. “I’m starving.” She curled around a pillow, burying her face into the sheets. “It’s only normal,” Maera replied fondly. “You barely touched your lunch yesterday, and skipped dinner entirely."
