23 Joe “Open the door.” Luke handed me his keys so I could unlock the connecting door between Sneaky’s and Percolate. He was drunk. Like, nearly obliterated, and I wondered if it would be better for me to just put him to bed and come back tomorrow. While I fumbled with the lock, it struck me that there was no way possible that he could open up the coffee shop at the crack of dawn if he was in this condition. “Don’t you have to work in the morning?” I asked. Luke said nothing, just shook his head no and then nearly fell into me. He caught himself with a hand to my chest, and where his fingers touched, I felt scorched.
