“Did you sleep alone?” “Jesus, Spencer.” I blushed and handed him his coffee. “That’s privileged information.” “Oh, sorry. When I saw you two leave together, I just assumed…” Spencer’s voice trailed off and then he winked and sat at the table closest to the counter. “There’s no one here. Join me.” Despite knowing that all he wanted was gossip, I poured myself a cup of tea and sat with him. Companionable silence fell between us. Spencer had his phone out typing something while I pondered the dream I barely remembered from last night.
