Chapter four

I stared at the documents in my hands with so much joy, I was so happy because I’d finally bagged the deal. I’d finally gotten the contract without Kourtney’s help and even though she was the one who’d given me the idea, I didn’t want to thank her. I had to celebrate it but for some reason, my wolf seemed to be displeased. It had been two weeks since I got married to Kathryn and I hadn’t been treating her as my wife. I took her like she didn’t matter to me and every time I did that, my wolf kicked against me.

I needed to find out what was so special in this woman that even my own wolf could kick against me. In the past, whenever I’d done anything mean to Kourtney, Lothaire never kicked against me but when it had to do with Kathryn, he did. I was still in deep thoughts when I suddenly caught hold of a strong scent. It was so good and I decided to follow it so I got up.

On getting up and rushing to the door, I bumped into someone and just as the person was about to fall, my wolf caused me to hold her by the waist and she held on to my collar. I looked at the person who’s waist my arms were wrapped around and I was shocked to see Kathryn.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her coldly but merely looking into her eyes, I could feel something in me. My wolf was kicking for joy and I felt confused.

I wanted to let go of her so she’d fall but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

“I came because you’d forgotten some documents back in the house” she said coldly before pushing me away and then getting on her feet. Even though she had gotten married to a man as ruthless as me, she still remained fearless and even though I hated the fact that she was so bold instead of being scared of me, I loved it most times.

She put the files in my hands and made to leave when I spoke.

“You should be grateful you know”‘I told her before walking towards her and she turned and chuckled at me.

“Grateful…” she scoffed, “that’s the last thing I would be to you. You have ruined my life and you expect me to be grateful.. never “ she said with so much arrogance and I could not help but be drawn to it and just from her standing opposite me, I could feel the level of excitement in my wolf. What did he even see in her?

“I have promised not to harm your family and I even let you send them far away from here and you don’t want to be grateful? It only shows how ungrateful you are “ I told her and she chuckled and from how her chuckle sounded, I knew she had realized I was right afterall. Normally, I could hear peoples thoughts but then when it came to her, I couldn’t and I couldn’t help but wonder the sort of human being she was.

“I just hope you keep to your promises “ she said and made to leave when I pulled her back and she was so close to me that it was almost like her heart was beating in my chest. It sounded so delicate and from how it sounded, I could tell she was nervous so I let go of her hand and she stepped back a little.

“There is a party this evening, I have just signed a billion dollar deal so there will be a party to celebrate it this evening and…”

“I’m not coming “ she said bluntly and made to leave when I stopped her with my next words

“You don’t have a choice you know “ I told her and my wolf was starting to feel uneasy and I couldn’t explain.

It was like Lothaire had become a whole new wolf entirely as ever since Kathryn came into my life, I could no longer understand him or his cravings.

“I knew it, you’re going to threaten me. You’re going to use my family one more time against me won’t you?” She asked and I started hearing cracks in her voice.. it was obvious she was about to break into tears and I started feeling guilty. What was wrong with me?

“I never said I was going to kill your family, you did. Just come to the party….. please” I said and she stared at me shocked. I’m sure she could have never believed I’d ever say please and I was shocked too. What kind of spell has she cast on me?

KATHRYN’s POV……

I stared at him, the word please didn’t suit coming out of his mouth but then hearing him say those words to me brought a certain level of excitement that I couldn’t explain to me. I had to restrain myself from smiling before nodding.

“Yes, I’ll be there” I said and just as I was about to leave, he dropped another bombshell… a thank you! He told me a dress and stylist was waiting for me and i thanked him before leaving.

After the please and thank you saga, it felt like he wasn’t the same Alexander who’d left the house because the Alexander who’d left the house was ruthless and mean to me. I’d never expected he’d be so nice and I was sure this was the nicest he’d been his whole life.

As I got into the car that was to take me back home, I started thinking of how close I’d been to him and how his grip felt like the best thing in the world. I slapped myself back to reality.., he was a ruthless don and there was no way he was even going to think of me the same way I was thinking of him.

I returned home and as he’d said, I met the stylists and they got me ready for the party.

When they were finished after a long time, I stared at myself in the mirror… I could never have believed that I could look so beautiful in my entire life. My hair was curled and tilted to one side and the glam dress that had been put on me made me look like a goddess.

My whole life I’d never dressed anything other than jeans and jackets but now, I was clad in a clam dress worth whopping dollars and I felt like I was in love with myself.

I was informed that he already left for the party and for some reason, I felt bad. I shook my head before getting into the car and when we got there, my jaw dropped in shock.

This was the most beautiful place I’d been to my whole life and now I saw the reason most girls had sugar daddies… they wanted to belong. I was still admiring the place when I felt someone put their hands in mine and on looking, it was Alexander and I had to admit, he looked very charming in his black tuxedo.

He locked hands with me before leaning in to my ear and then whispering.. “ please be romantic “

I stared at him, I had to be in a dream because the Alexander Gunderson the whole world painted out and the one I knew couldn’t say please twice in a day.

We walked to the guests and while we conversed with the shareholders of the company he’d just signed a billion dollar deal with, the head of them all dropped a shocking request.

“You look so cute together Mr Gunderson .. may I see you two kiss?” He asked and my eyes widened in shock.
