Why me?

Xanthe PoV:

It has been a week since the talk with my father and my mind still hasn't changed one bit. My sister, Lyndra, didn't understand my point. "Why would you NOT want to marry Cole? He is dropdead gorgeous and single, he is one of our topfighters and i want to bed he knows how to please a woman in every way possible".

"Lyn, you know how i feel about this, i want to marry my mate, the one who i am destined to be with, the one that the Moon Goddess has chosen for me, i just need to find him." We were sitting on my bed, eating doritos and watching a corny movie wich i have no clue what it was about because we were just chatting away.

"I know, i know, your mate etc... but what if you never find your mate? What if you end up like Phil, he went crazy trying to look for his mate and when he eventually did, she was a witch for crying out loud. Drove the man insane, so much so, that he killed himself!" I fell back on the bed and sighed " Come on Lyndra, you know that that isn't true, she wasnt a witch, she just didn't feel the connection because she was a married woman and she rejected him".

Lyndra has this weird fantasy about her mate being some prince charming, coming in to rescue her, mate and mark her and then turn her into a wolf so she could become a princess by his side. When our father overheard us talking about it he became angry at her for even thinking that. The world of Werewolves don't have a king, queen, prince or princesses. The all abide by the laws that the elders have created. She should be happy if she would ever be able to find a mate since she has no wolf. When our mother heard him say that, she went full Luna mode on him... he still wears the emotional scar from that converstation.

"Why can't this just be easy, like, you turn 21, you find your mate, and it's done, you live happily ever after" she stuffed another doritos in her mouth and chewed extra loud, she knew i hated that and i tossed a pillow to her face wich smacked straight into her. She just glared at me and grabbed a pillow from behind her and before i knew it, we were in a pillow fight.

As a knock on the door came an the door opened, Lyn wanted to flung a pillow in the direction of whoever entered only to be stopped in her tracks by a very angry looking mother. "Mom! i'm so sorry, i didn't know it was you who entered!" Lyndra quickly regained herself and got off the bed. When our mother looked over at me, the angry look turned into a grind and tossed the pillow straight back at Lyndra. She was so caught off guard that she fell on her bum. "Oof MOM!" and before we knew it, our mother had joined us.

After 15 minutes of laughing and having feathers all over the place, my mother scraped her troath and told me that my father wanted to see me. Urg, i know what this would be about and i was not in the mood. I straightened my clothes, got as many feathers off of me as i could and walked up to our dad's office. When i stood infront of his door, i got nervous. I knocked on the door and heard an enter, wich made me open the door.

I saw Cole standing there, just as nervous as i was. My father sat behind his desk looking at some paperwork but when he noticed me he dropped it all and stood up to capture me in a hug. "There you are angel, how are you today?"

I looked from my father to Cole and back to my dad " I am fine thank you dad, how is it going here?" My dad looked at Cole and then answered my question " Now Xanthe, you had a week to think about this and please tell me you considered it?" I looked my father straight in the eyes and told him " Yes father i have thought about it and i won't do it, i want to marry my mate, no one else."

My father's look went from happy to sad, to angry all in a split of a second. "You WILL marry Cole, you WILL become his wife and Luna and you WILL bear his children." He told me in his Alpha voice so there was no way for me to be able to deny his order. Tears started to fall down my cheeks and all i did was run. Once i was outside, i let my wolf Faith come forward and we ran for hours on end untill we came by a small stream wich was at the end of our border. When i shifted back to my human form and got dressed, i put my feet in the stream and cried some more. I suddenly heared some rustling in the bushes behind me and i was on high alert.

When my sister stepped out she said " i knew you would come here. Father told mom and me all about it, mom is furious but he is still the Alpha and will be obeyed, so i took the motor and drove here, waiting for you". I gave her a watery smile and patted the place next to me for her to sit down. I stared at the water for what felt like an hour untill Lyndra finally asked me to speak my mind. "It's just not fair Lyn, i want to have my mate, i want to feel that bond and i only want to marry him and carry his children, why am i being denied that?"

Lyndra was quiet for a moment but eventually started talking while looking up at the sky. The stars were so bright tonight it felt like the sun only started to set. "Maybe that is what happens when you get the gift of being the destined silver wolf. Maybe you don't get to have a mate." She turned to me and gave me an apolagetic look. I know she meant well but her words just stung. When i didn't react i told her to get up "let's go out, just you and me, let's go into the city and have a wild night". Looking at the water my mind was tripping over it's own thoughts.

"You know what Lyn, that doesn't sound so bad at all" i smiled at her and we started to make our way back, this time i didn't shift but went on the backseat of the motor.
