No doubt a book, a cup of hot chocolate, and the sound of the rain was the best combination and the green-eyed girl knew that very well. She was reading one of her favorite sagas, and her literary crush was just making an appearance, so she found herself with a big smile on her face. But some screams made her come out of her world, she looked out the window of her room, but she saw absolutely nothing. That had been a bit... strange.
Harley had arrived exactly three days ago, in which she had spent her time tidying up the house, she had not yet gone to visit her new neighborhood, as she had hoped to do so with her mother - who would be arriving in a while and that filled her with relief - as they had agreed a couple of days ago.
She was 17 years old so in a few more hours they would start her classes as well as her mother would start her new job. The brunette was a bit nervous, since starting from scratch and without her best friends did not help at all, the good thing was that she was very sociable or so she thought, on the subject of grades, that did not worry her, she had always had perfect grades, not to mention her behavior, you could say that she was the star student. Although she didn't always behave like one.
She shook her head when she heard the shouting again, but ignored it, thinking that it could only be a product of her mind due to the tiredness she felt.
"Harley? Honey?"
"Mom?" she quickly put on her shoes and went down to the first room, dodging a couple of boxes. — "Mom!"
She opened her arms and then wrapped her arms around her daughter in a warm embrace. "We're together again." — She gave him a small smile . — "Are you ready for school?"
"Mhm, yes, but I'm a little nervous. Is it far from here?"
She grimaced. — "Not that far... You'll have to use the car."
"I'd rather walk."
She looked at her designated huge mug, along with a fruit salad. He had no idea at what point his mother had put it on the table.
A sigh made him raise his head "Ley, your mood swings. You have to control them, remember. And I don't know how many times I have to tell you that coffee doesn't help you."
He ducked his head and raised it again with a small smile. — "I'm sorry."
For some time a certain chestnut had been having problems with insomnia, so they had to prescribe pills —which she rarely took— she preferred to read a book, since they didn't often help her to fall asleep, therefore they forbade her to drink caffeine, but come on, everyone knew that no matter how much they forbade her, she wouldn't give it up for anything in the world.
His mood swings were very constant, he could get lost in his mind for hours, not knowing what would happen in his surroundings and that was something that did not bother him at all, sometimes he preferred to be in his world than to be facing reality.

He already had his timetable and classroom numbers. The bell for the start of classes rang, causing him to jump. But what? He had sworn it was still about ten minutes away, he pulled the paper out of his pocket where he had his classes written down, he gave himself a little bump as he hadn't looked for the classroom in time. He spotted the staircase and turned just before passing, which was a very bad idea. Her face collided with someone's back, her bag fell on one of the steps.
"Sorry" she exclaimed.
"You should look for .... Who are you?"
She looked up to see who she had bumped into, she didn't know him-or so she thought-but that wasn't news. The first thing she noticed was that he was a few inches taller than she was, his arms were crossed, he didn't seem bothered by the collision.
"Harley. I'm really sorry, I was trying to find my classroom."
She waved her hands dismissively. — "Don't worry, next time try to watch where you're going, that's great advice." — he replied, evaluating her with his eyes.
"I write it down, who are you?"
He looked at her curiously, knowing who it was, the boy opened his mouth to answer, but a girl's shout interrupted him. — "Dereck! There you are!" — He frowned a little when he saw that she wasn't paying attention to him and fixed his eyes on her. — "Oh, hi! Excuse me! Who are you?"
"Hi, I'm Harley." she just smiled and said.
"I'm Olivia, and this is Dereck, my twin." She pointed at him. "Don't be scared, that's his face. Obviously I took all the beauty."
He snorted. "Let's see if she thinks the same, my dear." He fixed his eyes on her again. — "As Olivia said, I'm Dereck." — She picked up her bag and looked at her schedule. — "We share all the classes, come, we'll walk you."
Olivia was a few steps ahead of them, so the chestnut dared to speak to him.
"So Dereck."
He raised a slightly amused eyebrow — "Any problem with my name?"
"No, it's just a little something," he thought for a few seconds about what to say.
"A bit...?"
"Cute," he completed with a smile, "You look familiar, Dereck."
"You look familiar too, Harley."
"You were the one who helped me a few days ago, weren't you?"
he nodded silently "Yes, and it was three days ago."
"Counting the days to see me, young Dereck?"
a hoarse laugh came from his throat —"probably."
"Here it is!" exclaimed the blonde, interrupting their chatter, to grab the chestnut's hand and enter the classroom — "Sit with us."
She felt with a smile. She observed the class quickly, some had their eyes on her, and others were simply sleeping.
". . .As you all know, a few days ago two bodies were found in the middle of the lake, I'm here to tell you that the . . ." some of the students cleared their throats before she finished that sentence, and gave a quick glance at some of their classmates. "that the police are doing everything they can to catch the murderer," he quickly corrected himself.
The principal walked in and everyone fell silent. " Good morning, boys. We have a new student this year." He gave her a look and smiled sideways, then motioned for her to come to his side. "This is Harley Clarck, do your best to make her feel welcome."
The bell ending classes rang throughout the room. She quickly put her things away and hurried out of the classroom.
"Are you coming with us," the blonde asked.
" I wouldn't want to intrude."
"You don't, do you, Dereck?"
The aforementioned only nodded.
"How long ago did you come to town?" he asked, as they finished leaving the food trays. The chestnut "blond gave the girl an amused look, to which she denied in amusement."
Harley swallowed her food, "About three days ago."
"Oh. Have you been around town yet?"
"I haven't had a chance yet."
"Why?"
"Excuse my sister, she's usually very curious and annoying" Spoke for the first time since they sat down, Dereck.
He gave them a smile — "Don't worry. My mom had a mishap with her flight, so I decided to organize things a bit while she was arriving."
"Wow. Then we can help you by giving you a tour, " he squeaked, making his brother roll his eyes, " I don't want to bother you with my question, but why did you choose this town to live in?"
"My mom is a doctor. She was offered a job here and she didn't hesitate to accept."
The siblings shared a glance — " I see. And which hospital was it?"
He frowned and popped the fruit into his mouth, "Uh, I think it was Americanwest. I'm not quite sure."
"Oh! Our uncle works there! Isn't it great," Dereck?
"Yeah, it's... great."
Olivia gave Harley a smile " and tell me about yourself."
"What would you like to know?"
she seemed to think about it "Shall we play the hundred questions game" she nodded— "okay, favorite color?"
"Green."
"Dereck's is green too," she squealed.
She giggled, "What's yours?"
"I wouldn't know, baby pink or a hot pink, maybe a coral," she sighed, "but it's definitely one of those."
"A derivative of pink," Dereck concluded, exasperated, his twin clicked her tongue in affirmation.
"Favorite ice cream?"
"Lucuma with chocochips, is yours strawberry?"
she nodded frantically— "yes, how did you know?"
"Intuition."
"Or are you just too predictable, her brother blurted out."
"Which one is yours?" asked the brunette looking at the boy.
"You'll laugh."
She looked at him confused, "Why would I do that?"
"Everyone does it when they ask me."
"It's true," said Olivia, putting some fruit in her mouth.
"It's the pistachio."
The brunette frowned, — "Does that exist?"
He laughed, — "I know!"
The boys or rather Olivia and Harley spent the whole lunch talking, while Dereck just kept listening to what they were saying, every now and then he would give his opinion on something or other, looking at the girl's profile, a smile unconsciously came out of his lips when he saw her smiling, he noticed that her green eyes shone more than usual when she talked about the things she liked, like mystery books, drawing and playing the piano, he paid attention to every thing that came out of her mouth but he pretended not to be interested in it.
Harley every how often would give a glance to the blonde and that didn't go unnoticed by a certain blonde who saw everything with a smile, in one of those Olivia's gaze just fell when Harley was looking at her brother to then pay attention to what they were talking about and look at her but she blushed when she saw that she had caught him looking at the boy, something that made her smile.

Harley sighs and sits in the spare seat - Derek and Olivia had sat separately - after all, they were the only seats left over. The professor starts explaining his economics class, while she tries to understand the subject, but a noise behind her distracts her.
"What's wrong, Thom?" she hears a girl say.
"I couldn't find my pen, Alei" she whispered in reply, "I could have sworn I would have left one before I left, but. . ." You're clueless.
"You're absent-minded" she giggled.
"And you're a bore."
"But what have I done?"
"I tell you about my problems and you just make fun of me."
"But what else could I do?"
"Hola?. Help me, for example, duh"
Harley hesitates, but looks at the spare pen he had taken just in case, and takes it between his fingers.
"Here, I have one to spare" the boy looks at her in surprise, but a brief tap from his friend makes him react and he takes it.
"Thanks" she smiles at him and they both stare at each other "I'm Thom."
"Harley" the brunette looks at her friend.
"Alei looks at the time and turns her attention to the girl" You're new, right?
"Yes, does it show that much?"
she denied amused— "no, I just assumed because I've never seen you around here before."
"How long have you lived around here?"
"You could also say that I'm new, I arrived a few months ago in the middle of the school year," — she finished telling you, — "Do you have plans for the outing? We could go for food or take you on a tour of the town" ,— she pauses, — "We could also walk you home."
Harley gives her a smile — "The latter sounds good."
"Great!"
Class went on as normal until the bell rang, announcing the end of classes, the boys stood up, grabbing their things and putting them away.
The twins approached the brunette and said goodbye to her, or at least Olivia did so effusively while Dereck shook his head in farewell, to which the brunette gave him a small smile.
"See you, Ley" pronounced the blonde, kissing her new friend's cheek.
"See you tomorrow, Liv."
She turned around but then stopped to turn around again— "Do you have a way back, we can give you a ride home if you want."
Alei and Thom grabbed their things, standing next to both girls.
"Don't worry, Liv, we'll give her a ride" ,— Thom said.
"Thank you so much," — the brunette smiled at him, making him smile back.
"Oh, sure, I'll see you guys tomorrow!"
