I was sorting through the stuff in the supply room, humming to a song under my breath, when the door creaked open behind me. I turned, and there was Mona.
"You seem busy," she said, smiling as her eyes glanced around the room before stopping on me again.
The smile was the first red flag. Mona didn't smile at me. Not unless she was about to hand me a stack of files to sort or a list of medical items to get from the supply room. Nevertheless, I kept my guard up. "Yes," I said simply.
She nodded glancing around the shelves again as if she'd suddenly developed interest in what I was doing."Yeah... nice."
Silence stretched, long enough for me to raise a question. "Do you need me to get you anything?" I asked, already bracing myself to be sent halfway across the clinic.
