Chapter 2~Negociation

Ellina rolled her eyes perfectly. What does it mean? Why couldn't Reynand cancel the marriage? Ah, is this a sign that her hopes will be dashed again?

"Why?" Ellina looked at him questioningly.

She didn't believe that Reynand would agree to the marriage continuing with a different bride. Isn't that so ridiculous? How could a man be willing to marry a woman he doesn't love, and vice versa?

"I beg you. Only you can help me this time. I can't possibly marry a man I don't love," explained Ellina again, feeling worried.

Instead of answering, Reynand was silent for a moment while looking at Ellina. 'Is it true that she refuses to marry a handsome man like me? Ah, even out there, there are so many women who want me. What a stupid woman!' Reynand muttered to himself.

"You can help me, right?" Ellina asked again, just to make sure.

"I told you I couldn't help you. Don't you still understand?" Reynand replied, emphasizing his words. "Don't be too confident. You think you're the only one who doesn't want this marriage? I don't want to marry a woman like you either."

Ellina was stunned to hear Reynand's statement. Why did it hurt so much to hear the man speak like that as if she was very despicable in the man's eyes.

"What's wrong with me? Am I really bad in your eyes?" Ellina gave him a disapproving look. Reynand's words seemed to have lowered her self-esteem.

Reynand was silent for a moment. It seemed he was confused about what to answer.

"Yes, as you said. I also couldn't possibly want to marry a woman I don't love," answered Reynand carelessly.

Ellina frowned as if she felt there was something odd about the man's answer. However, she did not want to extend it.

"If you really don't want to marry me, why are you silent. You should do something so that we don't get married!" Ellina said, a little annoyed.

"If you think it's easy, why don't you just do it yourself?" said Reynand turning the question around.

"Okay, if you don't have a solution to our current problem, I have another solution!" Ellina stressed, which managed to make Reynand raise his eyebrows as if he was curious.

"I will marry the man of my choice. That way the wedding in my family will continue and my parents won't be embarrassed," explained Ellina, who succeeded in making Reynand's eyes widen.

"So what about me? Do you think I won't be embarrassed because of your sister's actions, huh?" said Reynand, who indirectly expressed his rejection of Ellina's plan.

Ellina looked confused. She thought hard about finding another solution for Reynand. "Maybe you can also look for another woman to replace my sister's position," she suggested.

"It's not that easy, Miss!" Reynand answered as he got up from his seat, then left without saying goodbye.

This certainly surprised Ellina. "Hey! I haven't finished talking yet!"

The next day, Ellina came to a well-known company office in her city to meet Reynand again. Try to negotiate a second time. However, his efforts did not produce the desired results. The man was still adamant about not wanting to cancel the wedding for the same reason as before, none other than because of a reputation he didn't want to ruin.

"You deliberately want to embarrass me, huh? I've already sent out invitations. The wedding day is tomorrow. Do you think it's that easy to find a woman who can replace your sister?" Reynand stared intently at Ellina's face.

Reynand couldn't understand Ellina's way of dealing with this problem. The one who should be angry is him, not the woman. It is clear that Reynand is the first figure to be disadvantaged in this problem, compared to Ellina.

He should be the one angry, not the other way around. Even though Ellina also suffered losses in this case, the woman should still be aware that her family is responsible for Zyanna's disappearance.

"I understand what you mean, but—"

"Whatever the reason, I don't want to be harmed a second time in this matter. Those who are looking for your sister's trouble, it's only right that your family is responsible for this matter!" Reynand concluded, not giving Ellina a chance to refuse.

The tall, slim woman left in deep disappointment. It seems like she really has to make sacrifices for her family.

"Huft! My life sucks!" Ellina snorted harshly as she landed on her proud swivel chair.

After her business with Reynand was finished, she decided to return to her workplace. The woman who had served as the CEO's secretary for two years seemed to lean her back against the back of the chair, then closed her eyes for a few moments. Arguing with Reynand apparently drained quite a lot of energy.

"Where have you been? I've been looking for you since break time. Your cell phone doesn't seem to be active either?"

Ellina gasped when a baritone voice suddenly broke through the room. She immediately opened her eyes and changed her sitting position to an upright position, staring at the figure standing in front of her desk with perfectly rounded eyes. She doesn't know how long Richard was standing there.

"You?" Ellina took a deep breath, trying to neutralize her feelings again.

Richard pulled a chair in front of her, then landed his body on it. Now he was sitting opposite Ellina. Staring in surprise at the woman who looked a little confused today, even though this morning the woman still looked fine.

"Have you had lunch?" Richard asked to confirm. However, deep down, that wasn't what he really wanted to know from Ellina.

Ellina shook her head slowly. She seemed to have a sullen expression as if she deliberately wanted to show her mess to Richard.

"Is there any problem?" Richard seemed to immediately understand the meaning of the expression on Ellina's face. He understood that Ellina was in trouble, even though he didn't know exactly what problem the woman in front of him was facing.

"Reynand still doesn't want to cancel the wedding," answered Ellina matter-of-factly.

This suddenly stunned Richard and he didn't speak for a moment. Of course he was upset to hear the news. Even though he really hoped that he could replace the groom, so that he could have Ellina as soon as possible. However, if Reynand refuses his plans with Ellina, then what should he do to thwart their marriage?

Ah, he couldn't think. Having just heard the bad news, he was already thinking further about Ellina's future life with Reynand. He couldn't imagine seeing the woman he loved living under the same roof as another man. Isn't that very painful?

"Let me talk to him!" Richard firmly reflexively made a decision.

"It's useless ..." said Ellina, pausing slightly. "He will not care and accept any reason," She added.

Ellina took a deep breath again. She placed both hands on the table, leaning forward slightly. Her gaze looked sad. There was obvious confusion on her face.

"Maybe she will hear what I said, El," said Richard, trying to persuade Ellina to meet Reynand, a well-known young businessman whom he clearly knew very well.

"Impossible!" Ellina replied emphatically. "What he is saving now is his reputation. He doesn't care who will oppose him, what is important is that his good name is saved," she added, explaining.

"I surrender. It seems like this has become my fate. However, my sister has made a big mistake and my family must be responsible," said Ellina again.

"So what about me? I've admired you for a long time, El? Can you bear to see me hurt?" Richard protested, still unable to accept Ellina's decision.

Ellina stared closely at the pitiful face in front of her. To be honest, she also couldn't bear to see Richard hurt. Even though the man was willing to sacrifice for her. However, what could she do now other than surrender to the situation?

"I'm sorry, Richard. Thank you for being willing to sacrifice for me. I hope you respect my decision. I'm sure you will find a woman who is much better than me," said Ellina, a little disappointed with her decision.

Richard's face immediately turned sad. Ellina's statement clearly cut his heart deeply. Even though he had high hopes for that woman. However, he also had to respect Ellina's decision, even though it felt so painful for him.

"Are you sure, El?" Richard asked again to confirm.

"I'm certain." Ellina nodded slowly as if she was still unsure of her choice.

"What if you're not happy?"

"It's already a risk. I can definitely face it myself. You don't need to worry," answered Ellina confidently.
