Her last words

736 Words
Renee felt the long, cold fingers around her neck, almost covering its entirety. The touch was metallic, ice-cold, and just when she thought he would snap her neck, his grip loosened. His arm slowly moved down and gently wrapped around her back. She was stunned, her hair standing on end... She hadn't felt much when he was choking her, but now every pore on her body was stimulated and open. A razor-sharp blade precisely pierced her wound at the lower back, then turned half a circle clockwise. "Ugh..." She had never experienced such excruciating pain. The fresh wound was reopened, and the blade turning half a circle in her organs created a hollow inside her. Renee's eyes widened, looking up at Charles. The young man with rosy lips and white teeth also looked down at her, his forehead half-covered by his hair. The warm yellow light from the ceiling lamp cast a mottled shadow on his face, adorned with sparkling crystal beads. His eyelashes were long and dense, and his thin lips were lightly pressed together. His overly delicate appearance gave him a fragile beauty, and his eyes were clear and bright, seemingly untouched by worldly filth. With a calm expression and a clear gaze, he inserted the knife into her body again. Charles hated things slipping out of his control, so he decided to eliminate this trouble. He released his arm from around her body, took a step back. Renee, in so much pain she could hardly breathe, collapsed weakly onto the bed, like a fish pulled ashore, her mouth opening and closing without the strength to struggle. Charles did not look at her face but instead reached out and slowly pulled the knife out inch by inch, to avoid blood splattering everywhere. After withdrawing the knife, he took out a black cloth from his pocket and wiped the blood off the blade. Perhaps it was the alcohol numbing her nerves, or the adrenaline rush before death, but Renee felt less pain now. She still had the strength to stare intently at the man's face in front of her. He was so incredibly handsome! She felt it would be a shame to die like this... Despite his ruthless nature, he was truly beautiful. The saying "a beautiful face is a curse" wasn't wrong. Renee's gaze fell on the knife. It was his knife, which she had taken with her when she got stabbed. She had casually placed it on the white carved cabinet by the door when she returned, not expecting him to grab it upon entering. It seemed he was very determined to kill her. "Just now, I asked you a question. It was your last words. You still have a chance," Charles continued their earlier conversation. Last words... Charles looked at the girl, her face pale as paper, on the verge of death. She stared at him unblinkingly, her pale lips moving, opening and closing, struggling to utter a sentence. Given her unusual behavior today, he was genuinely curious about what she wanted to say. He leaned in to hear better. "So... I... before I die... you..." "Could you... give me a kiss?" She finished her request in one breath, eagerly puckering her lips towards him. Charles furrowed his brows and sheathed his knife. Renee watched as he turned and walked away without giving her a single glance. Sigh... He really wouldn't give her a kiss?! She was about to die!! You heartless bastard, you'll be cursed for this!! She heard a soft click as the door closed, and he left silently. Renee's body was immobilized, her legs dangling weakly off the bed, her body curled up like a dead, cooked shrimp. She lay there with her eyes open, the waiting-for-death process feeling particularly long and boring... "Hey, system, let's chat." Luckily, she didn't need to open her mouth to communicate with the system. Renee expected the system to ignore her as usual, but this time, it responded immediately with a sinister laugh, like a vengeful spirit from hell. "How will I die in the next world? Give me a hint." Renee had given up on futile resistance. Until the system calmed down, she would likely die repeatedly. "Host, with me around, how could I let..." The system's voice was annoyingly gentle, so gentle that it made her hair stand on end again. Sure enough, it continued ominously. "...let you die so easily?"
