MIKA The sound of rushing water fills my ears as I grip the edge of the board, my legs trembling with both excitement and terror. What the heck was I thinking? Channing is behind me, his strong hands holding my waist steady as the wave simulator roars to life, and I can barely hear him over the noise. "Relax! I’ve got you,” he says in a teasing voice. “It’s like dancing. Balance and flow.” “Dancing doesn’t try to kill you!” I yell back, squeezing my eyes shut, as the board moves beneath me. I scream and cling to him as if my life depends on it. Channing laughs, holding me firmly.
