AUTHOR’S POV
“You ruined me,” Wade starts and Nina flinches, her fingers tightening in her lap. But she doesn’t speak. She just watches him, her eyes darting to Harris, then back to Wade. “I did nothing but love you,” he continues, his voice breaking. “I gave you everything. And you—” His breath shudders out of him as he shakes his head. “You destroyed me.”
“Wade—”
“—No!” His voice rises and echoes off the cold walls as he takes another step forward, and she shrinks back against the bed. “You don’t get to say my name like that. You don’t get to look at me like you’re the victim.”
His chest heaves, his vision blurring with rage and heartbreak. “You lied to me. You played me. And when that wasn’t enough, you took away everything I had left.”
