AUTHOR’S POV
Lucas slams his palm against the steering wheel, cursing beneath his breath. What the hell is wrong with her? Nina dropped the call in the middle of him talking three days ago, and she has not picked up since. Lucas is now parked outside the hotel despite knowing he can not afford to be there, but Nina has pushed him into a corner.
He calls her again but there's nothing, and his frustration boils over. Everything seems to be falling apart again. The attorney is working hard to locate the Ferrari Wade mentioned, and Channing should be brain-dead by now. But instead, he remains in a coma, and the delay is infuriating.
Lucas believes the universe is playing a sick game with him, dragging this out longer than necessary. But it won’t win.
